156 Climate control issues

I own a beautiful 2002 1.8 ts lusso. Recently the climate control has been possessed by a gremlin. I like the car resonably cool, but when ever I set the climate control to anything other than minimum, the temp gradually creeps to max. I believe the prob to be the drivers (right in this case) temp control knob, as if I were to set it, it argues with me going to whatever it feels like grrrrrrr. Its bloody infuriating!

Anyone know of a quick fix or if its a major job getting the control out to replace? Any help appreciated

Have you checked this site Fun starts @ 3000! it contains lots of Tecnical Tips.
Your problem can also be related to the cabin temp sensor,

Many thanks Erik took a bit of searching but it appears I'm not alone. Dry or cracked solder is whats being suggested so all I have to do now is suss how to remove the panel and get the contacts resoldered.
