Alfa 147

Jono here!.
Looking at buying a 147, want to know the pros and cons,
i know what comes with an alfa romeo having owned one before but i want to know lifelimiting, RG ( Gearbox life limiting and reliability) and just general things.
Its a toss up between a 147 and a Ford Territory..

Selespeed gearboxes gave lots of problems when lanced, but ate better from 2003. Manuel boxes are all right on 4 cyl. variants, GTA versions also gave probs at first, but later cars better.
Other issues are that about 10% of 2,0 TS have high oil consumption and some have suffered big end bearing failure.
Cam belts have to be changed every max 3 years or 80000 km/50000 miles, costly when fail, so see documentation or have changed before driving. Often big end bearing failure follow cam belt failure.

2002 Alfa 147 2L TS

Hi CHirsta here,

Anyone know where I can download a workshop manual for my car?
Would also want to know more about the airbags in the seat, if once activated can they bypassed without replacing them?

Thanks

we have 3 years or 60000km/37500 miles, so it can vary depending on the country. Its better to change it on time or even before the suggested time.Lots of belt failures (usually rolleys/pulleys which broke, not actual belt) in TS engines.
