Help Needed with Light Failures on 147 In UK

Hey Guys and Gals, have an issue with my current car a 1.6 TS Lusso 2002 147. Basically I get an error message when driving around if I dab the brakes, or use the indicators, or put the sidelights/dipped headlights on. These error messages then dissappear when I touch the brake pedal. The messages are "Brake Light Failure" and "Right Sidelight Failure"

I tried replacing both Brake Lights - cleaning the contacts on both bulbs. I still get the message coming up when I drive around. The Rear light on the right dims when the indicator flashes on and off though.

Not sure what is going on and its brought me to you guys in the hope someone here knows what to do!!!

Would disconnecting the battery for a little while help to reset the system. Do I need to disconnect re connect all the bulbs and clean the contacts on every bulb?

Any help as I am slowly considering hitting the car with a tree!!

It would be better to ask your question on Alfa Romeo Bulletin Board & Forums it's a UK based Alfa Forum. This forum is US based - no Alfas have been imported to US sínce 1994.
Try the battery disconnection, it will not harm anything, but for an hour or more. Or have a fault messege rapport written from the ECU.

I'd second looking at the Alfa owner forum - lots more 156/147 stuff there. The symptoms sound like a bad earth connection.

I don't think that Alfa 147s were imported to Canada, anyway, typing Alfa and model 147year 2003 is answered "Sorry, no vehicles found".
Lots of UK/Euro based OEM parts suppliers with compeditive prices. But our friend first has to have the fault dianosed.
