Alfa 166 fun.

Hey,

I just thought I'd post this.

We bought a 1999 AR 166 24V sportronic not too long ago. We have driven it for about 4000km's when the tensioner seized and snapped the cambelt resulting in you know what.

According to the Alfa dealer, the cam belt was indeed changed at 60,000km's as per usual.

Bit of an odd occurance. Any thoughts/comments welcome.

I think that they are suposed to replace the tensioner aswell when changing the cambelt. It used to be 8.000km or 3 year, they lowered it to 6.000km or 3 year as this is an not to uncommon problem.

it would be good to change belts and tensioners, 2 pcs of support pulleys and aux belt at same time not just the belt (in my car 156 v6 they change these parts in normal belt service). Interval 3 years/60 000kms
