1.9 JTD TMAP sensor or BAR/psi value?

I'm trying to get some specifics on a particular part for the Alfa Romeo 1.9 JTD. I'm trying to find out the maximum BAR/KPa rating for the MAP/TMAP sensor of this model. It has a part number of 55206797, Bosch makes it their part number is 0 281 002 845 for this item. The TMAP is a Temperature Manifold Air Pressure sensor. It measures the pressure in the intake along with the temperature. On the Turbo cars it reads the gain in boost pressure for the engine controller.

I've spent a ton of time searching on Google and other places but I'm coming up with nothing useful. Bosch's website doesn't have any useful information either.

It looks like this;

What's the max BAR/PSI on a stock 1.9 JTD? I couldn't find that online either.

Hmm. Alfa have made several versions of their 1.9 JTD, both in 8- and 16-valve versions. The attached PDF is the spec sheet for Bosch MAP sensors, but it's published some time before 2001. In 2002, Alfa introduced their much improved JTD.

I found a variety of Bosch MAP sensors while browsing 1.9 JTD Alfas in the local partsmonger webshop, but none with the number you have.

Thanks for the information. Looks like the PDF covers some of the 0 281 002 xxx series sensors but not the one I'm looking for. This one is on the newer 1.9L JTD 16 valve engine in the latest cars. I need to find out it's maximum KPa to determine how much boost it can handle.

However this gives me some more info to help better refine my searches. I might even have to call Bosch to find out.

Well I called Bosch directly and got the following answer.

"This is a non-disclosed part so there is no public information available on it due to it being proprietary information."

Bosch's suggestion was to call an Alfa Romeo dealership because they would have the part information on it for their applications. Yeah, because we have so many of those here in the USA...

Maybe one of you would be awesome enough to call one of your local dealers and try to find information on this part?

What's done here in Europe when we wants more boost to increase power output of our cars, particular diesel turbos, are that we buy a chip specific for our car model or go to someone with the right program and a stationary rolling road and have the ECU remapped. The latter is mapped so we can go thru the smog test without problems, the chip often have to be removed before the test.

We're doing the same thing here. However GM is releasing an upgrade kit for the Solstice GXP that uses this exact sensor, we however had no clue what the rating of it was. We were trying to find out if the new sensor was a higher BAR rating than the old one so tuners could then increase the boost even higher than the old one supported.

I finally found the information I was looking for. The stock sensor is 2.7 BAR (25 PSI) and the new sensor (the one from the 1.9L 16V JTDM) is 3 BAR (29.5 PSI). So now with this new sensor we can reliably push an even higher boost value through the car.
