No, Alfa builds them as TS and as V6 cars... The first V6 cars being 2.5 24 v and later the GTA came out with the 3.2 24 v V6 ....

This car starting out as 2.5 (and the 3.45 big-bore conversion not changing anything dimensionally on the outside of the block), there wasn't any modification required "to make the engine fit..." The engine was already in there!

Sorry if I missed your point

I knew what you meant with that post. Sorry if I caused confusion.

Race-Prep'ed GTA For Sale;

Well, it served a purpose, we did VERY well in the All-Tar Rally and we proved a point with the FWD. We posted better times in some stages than cars with 10 times the budget, (even managed to show up the Nobles a bit...), but in the end the %&@$#%* rad fans ate the radiator and the heat at Zwartkops cost us dearly!

Dawie and I have decided on a specific purpose-build project and I will need the money, so the GTA is up for sale!

We have already switched out the awesome 3.7 litre motor for a modified 3.2 GTA with about 290 horses at the crank.

Here are some pics at the Tarmac Rally...

It is now a new generation (standard) block'ed 156 GTA 3.2 again, but with some extra goodies - Inside it is all new GTA - GTA rods, GTA pistons, GTA crank, GTA injectors - everything brand new GTA. It's 3.2 Litres and about 10.5-10.7: compression.

Probably kicks around 290 horses at the crank. We are running the better-ratio'ed and stronger 164 5 speed box, BIG BMW brakes and the whole hub bolt-pattern has been converted to 5x120 BMW pattern for more wheel choices, better off-sets and larger brake options!

Front is Brembo 4-pot and rear - stock GTA with the large 330 BMW vented rotors.

Custom adjustable camber/castor/toe-conversion! Full roll-cage - custom gauges, brand new Cobra seats and Sparco belts, plexi windows, stand-alone engine management system - we have a GREAT deal of money AND hours invested in this car and it is VERY competitive!

Good history - car finished 3rd in the South African Group A production car series for 2003 as a privateer entry on a low-low budget against 7 factory BMWs!

Asking 200,000 ZAR, but make us an offer! (About 33K USD...) Keep in mind that the car is RHD

We have a new project waiting in the wings and need the cash fast!

...never said that it was... Sorry if I missed your point!

It is a race car that was purpose-built to compete in the production car class during the 2003 season.

Because there were no GTAs racing yet at that point and none available in SA at the time, a car was specifically converted for the purpose using homologation standards. Passed with the scrutineers and the - good enough for meI believe that it actually marked the 1st V6 GTA to race for Alfa anywhere in the world...
