i'm tired of looking for on where and why my GTV drains my new battery if i don't use the car for at least one week....so i was thinking what if i just always take out/disconnect the negative terminal of my battery and connect it again if i will use my car... would this affect any electrical part or ECUs in the car? would anyone recomend this? am i doing more harm than good to my GTV?
The best way to check to see what is draining your battery is to take out each fuse in turn and put a meter accross it to see if there is a current being drawn, in theory with the car off no current is taken by any of the circuits. When you find which fuse has a current in the line, have a look to see the components that are fes from the same line.
There was a similar case here not long ago. One guy had a glove compartment light that wouldn't go out when he closed the lid. The other guy found that his Sony stereo sucked the battery dry in about a week. The latter was fixed by turning it completely off before leaving the car.
Just last night a friend solved this long running problem on his 916 spider. The glove box light would not go off, or come back on after usage(vibration). He removed the glove box light, problem solved.
yep.. i think that's the culprit of this whole problem.. the glovebox compartment light! noticed this when i just pend the glovebox and felt the light was very hot which was odd since i just opened the glovebox! take the lights out and problem solved ! =)
I just checked and have also found a hot glovebox bulb on a cold winter's day. Thanks to everyone on this thread who mentioned it.
