Hi

I have just bought a second hand 147 and it has developed a crunching / squeaking noise when it goes over bumps

The garage where I bought it from have said that it is the rolls bars and these will need replacing.

Is this right and has any one experienced this before

Thanks

The 147 is fitted with the same type wishbones as the 156 and these are a common cause of noise that you have described. They have been known to fail on new cars with verry little mileage.

The front suspension has a small upper wishbone and a larger lower wishbone and 80-85% of the time its the upper ones that fail. Thet still work its just poor quality rubber bushes in them.

My 156 is going in on friday to get these changed.
EB spares sell them for the 156 for approx £26 + vat so I think the 147 will probably cost the same ammount.
