I'm just getting into changing the lower arms on the front suspension due to mot failure (ball joints worn to excess!!!!) . Would appreciate any hints or tips on making the job less painful. Many thanks
Cracking car. 2.0 TS, 128 000 miles and pulls like a train.
1. tighten the springs with spring tensioners
2. Open all the bolts ( 1 under the bearing, the damper bolt, 4 in the chassis.)
3. take a away the antirollbar connector (Or whats it called)
4. Use a hammer on the cone attacment under the bearing and it should come off.
5. Jack up the damper/spring combination.
6. Try to get the old wishbone out, its not easy. Try some different angels, hammers and jacks...
7. Putting the new one in is as difficult as getting the old one out.
8. Then reverse the steps 6->1.
Clwyd,
Thanks for the info, job done, MOT'd and been on holiday since, no probs whatsoever, but not a job I'd recommend!!!
