Dash backlight problem

Friends, I have a 156 2.0 TS (2000).
It is in perfect condition (only 20.000 miles), but sudenly, the backlight of the odometer display went off (the small display inside speedometer). All the lights in the dash works OK. The odometer, (wich shows, total milleage, partial milleage and temp) works OK, but I can only see it in the day (sometimes not) since it hace no backlight.
does anyone know how to solve it? I´ve been told tha a complete speedometer replacement is needed. Can it be true???
plase, answer cc to pricobelli@ats-connection.com
thanks.....

Mine flickered for a while. Is ok now though. Sounds easy to do. A lot easier than the bulbs behind the temperature gauge!!!

Temp Gauge

By the way, you have mentioned the temperature gauge.... Is it normal that the temp is perfect (90) in the city, but when the speed goes up in the hiway(more that 130 or so) on a cold day, it goes fully down??? I´ve heard that a lot on 156... Is it normal, or I have termostate problems???

No, not normal.

Your thermostat is stuck open. Common problem. Follow guide on the link to replace it.
