Hi all, great board.

Tomorrow i'll be the new owner of a GTV Lusso 3.0 on a 99T.

Just wondering if there is anything you would recommend I do when I get the car, to maintain its reliability? I'm a bit wary of the reliability issue with Alfas, and hoping for as much support as poss really.

Any advice appreciated

Cheers

The major concern is having evidence of a timing belt change at the appropriate time. Also, you can visit www.sportsalfa.com for more specifics on the GTV. There is an airflow meter that requires replacement all too often. This part fails and it should not. If performance hits a dead spot at 4-5k rpm, you will probably be looking at a new AFM.

Great car. Where else are you going to get a world class engine and Pininfarina styling?

Hi there, thanks for the reply.

Picked the car up last night and very happy so far apart from a couple of issues - at certain speeds (around 65 mph) theres a high pitched sound, which I think is a wheel bearing. Would you agree? Whats the cheapest way of getting it changed? Should i source the part from somewhere myself? Or just take the car to an Alfa specialist?

The other thing is a creaking sound from the rear suspension - apparently the springs have a rubber bung which can harden over time. These will need replacing. Again, any idea how to go about it?

Any help much appreciated.

I know the car wont be as reliable as my Honda, but the pros definately outweigh the cons!!!

Many, many, many of us have been confused with wheel bearing noise that is in-fact from tyre noise. So, don't rush into to repair the wrong item.

The rear suspension is subject to bushing wear, frequent replacement. Not sure about the rubber bung. I think my bung is loose and floating about within the spring. Details, details, details.

I know a lot of fellows pass along specialists names from good experience. Reference the www.gtvv6.com forum, now SportsAlfa.
