'99 156 Throttle Cable

Hi Folks,

I'm new to all this and don't know a lot about cars, so please bear with me.

I have a '99 156 and, whilst driving my daughter to her footy match tonight, I felt a "ping" type sensation on the throttle and then it stopped working. The engine was still running and settled down to idle. Pressing the accelerator does nothing.

Anyway, I wondered if it was a big job to sort it out? I found the throttle cable in the engine bay and can see where it comes out of the cabin. Does anyone know how and where the cable is attached to the throttle? Is this inside the car - it was fairly dark and I couldn't see very weel in the foot well. Is it screwed onto the throttle or bolted on etc. What's the best way to get at it?

I really don't want to take this to a garage if I can help it - they'll have to come out and pick her up - v expensive.

Anyway, any help gratefully received.

Cheers.
