Can't start 156 when warm

Hi there - hope you can help.

I've recently developed a starting problem with a 1999 156 2.0 TS that has never given me any trouble until now.

Basically, the engine starts fine when cold. However, after running for an hour or so and moderate temperate (around 90), once the engine is switched off it won't start again - it just turns over without firing. I'm forced to wait for 40 minutes or so while it cools down, and then it fires up again without any problems. A local garage (part of a respected national franchise) has cleaned and checked the coils, but this has made no difference. Other than that, they're scratching their heads. I'm reluctant to take it to the nearest Alfa dealership because this is miles away and they look upon anybody arriving on the forecourt as a blank cheque.

Anybody got any ideas?

Many thanks
