Just Purchased Dawie's 2003 Racer - 156 GTA
What can I say? We seem to have a deal! I just purchased Dawie's 2003 Glenwood privateer/Alfissimo 156 Production Saloon race car, complete with all of the brakes, suspension parts, electronics, gearbox parts etc (Anything that was not pirated for the 3005 season...)
This has been a dream come true for me! (ohmigod... Now I have to monitor ANOTHER forum... )
This was the first V6 GTA in the world to race officially for Alfa Romeo. The car won several races during the 2003 season and actually finished 3rd overall in the Championship behind the full factory BMW team.
Given that this is a "Dawie de Villiers/Glenwood" works car and given that this was the 1st car to race (officially) for Alfa Romeo in South Africa after a 17 years (or so) absence for Alfa from racing in SA, I am also hoping that the car will retain/gain some historical significance...
The goal is to get this car ready for the October All-Tar Rally to take on the naturally aspirated class AND WIN IT! (Show them what CAN be done with a front-driver...)
We will be going at it with a 3.45 litre new generation 156 24 valve, solid lifters, "my" Ross Racing Pistons, Pauter forged steel rods and hopefully, the most perfect 8000 rpm motor Dawie has ever built! (Looking for 400 crank horses up high - not so much low-end torque...)
