New Track Record at Buttonwillow?
Well guys, if you really have stock 2-L GTV's, they have 162 base points. This puts at the bottom of F Class (161 to 170 points), well below E Class (171 to 185 points). Even with a few minor mods, they would still be in F. If you get your cars officially classified (see Randy Harris or Doug Bender at the track), and you are really in F Class, someone will set a track record. This is because there is currently no AROSC track record for F class at Buttonwillow (at least I don't show an F Class record in the computer files). If you're in E Class, you're shooting for better than a 2:14.457, set by Santo Rimicci driving a Guilietta in 2001. This assumes a clockwise event.
Good Luck!

Bruce,
Don't tell Snaidy, but I have a few mods up my sleeve.
Santo's record is quite fast. I see that you and Jim Ferris were nearly 10 seconds off his pace last year. I will be happy just to keep up with you and Jim. Well, I guess I mean your times from last year, as I see you have moved up to C and after what I saw of Jim's Alfetta at Laguna, I would be real surprised to see him at Buttonwillow.

Bruce,
Now you got me thinking. If I bring the Berlina, I could set that record. Actually, I think it is in G. 140 base points, add 6 points for the front and rear springs, 3 points for the Bilstein shocks, 2 for the negative camber, and 2 for the rim width, and we are at a whopping 151! Heck, if I set the camber at zero, I am at 149 - class H! Are there any records in G or H?
Is it too late for me to sign up a second car to run in a second group?
Maybe I can get a trailer hitch on the Berlina, put the GTV on a tow dolly and bring them both.

I too have some bigger rims, tires, shocks, springs and a header bringing my car in at 177 points.
Snaidy, which tires are you running? I was going to go with the Kumho's. Since the treadwear rating is less than 100, you add 10 points. That would have put me in class D. I really doubt that I could win class D my first time at a track in car that has never even been on a track.
I am still undefeated in E and plan to sweep the rest of the season!

I won't be doing the enduro this year. For the enduro of next year (hopefully it will be organized again), my brother and I will team up. But we will most likely run his Milano 3.0 24V.
Next year, if all goes well, will be very interesting. Especially with the emergence of newer Alfa sedans in the race series.
My rebuilt 75 3.0 QV, my bro's 75 3.0 24V QV, another 75 3.0 24V QV, and possibly a 75 1.8 Turbo.

yeah, my dad has the record. i set it in 2000, and then he came back and broke it the following year in the same car! both track set ups were CW 14, as it's gonna be next weekend.

Classification Points
Jeff,
Last year while classifying my GT Junior, Doug and I agreed that no points will be added for Koni or Bilstien shocks. Points would only be added to cars that have shocks which can be adjusted without having to remove them. So...don't add points for those shock.
BTW, what made you decide to go with Bilstein's on te Berlina?

Thanks for the tip Anthony. Three more points, maybe I will put on the Niki Lauda trunk wing I have and the Duetto's fiber glass hood. Man this will be one messed up looking car. Black car with body damage white hood, red wing. I'd better be fast or the club won't let me drive, or is that just a vara thing?

one time hsr west told dirk to paint two of his cars before he brought them out again. vara and arosc are cool with cars that need paint. they are more into people having fun with their toys unlike hsr west. its even on their freakin tech sheet to check for nice paint and bodywork...whatever!

Anthony,
The previous owner of the Berlina used to race with the Alfa club. He is the one who made all of the modifications, including the Bilsteins. It even has a set of Yokohama 008R's on it. Of course being 10 year old tires, they have lost their grip. At least I would think they have, but I have not built up any heat in them so I do not know.
I really should bring the car just to find out how it does.

To my knowlege, no Berlinas have raced with the AROSC. 2 supers/Ti's have raced (The Kattchees have raced a few times, and I raced Dirk's police car once) but never any Berlinas.
It might have time trialed. Did it used to be a sort of beige/eggshell color and belong to a guy named Simon? If so, I have driven it!
