Time to Come Clean - A Book

Fellow Alfisti,
The four door Giulia TI / Super / Berlina have been so overshadowed by the great GTs and Spiders that little is written about them. I know we have recently had the Tippler book on "Berlinas", but that was in the widest sense, not specifically on the Giulias.
I have been trying to piece together a book which will just cover the four door Giulias. Alfa Romeo are aware of the project and have promised their support. I have also been in touch with a publisher who is quite keen if I can get this together properly. I've currently written over 20000 words, but need more!
I am very keen on ensuring that the book covers Giulias all over the world, and in an as many different uses as possible. So, I am desperately wanting information on daily driven cars, racers, modifieds, show cars, cars awaiting restoration/rescue...indeed anything. I also need good publishable photos.
I hasten to add that I a not a professional journalist, and this is certainly costing me much more than I could ever dream of getting back. I am just an enthusiastic owner who wants to see these great little cars get a fair hearing! Please be part of this project!
I would be thrilled if any owners, fellow enthusiasts, people with info/photos, would get in touch.
Ciao!
Mark,
London, England

So, judging from the lack of response I guess I'm the only one who thinks this book is a good idea?!?!?! Is there no interest in the Ti/Super Stateside?
I need encouragement....and...well...maybe it wasn't such a good idea afterall!!!!

UK - I think it's a great idea!!!

The problem is I know nothing about them, nor do I have any kind of info on super's. And I think many are in the same shoes i'm in.

There isn't much or any info on supers out there. I think you have a great idea going, and should pursue writing this book!!!

p.s. I'd buy it

Mark,

Sorry for the poor response regarding your project. I myself cant really help out too much since I don’t personally have one of these fine cars but I sure will help to spread the word. I'm going to be cross posting this post in some of our other forums and perhaps you’ll get a better response. I’m sure someone will chime in soon just hang in there!

Cant wait to hear more about the project as it develops.

Regards,

It looks like the AlfaBB suffered another server hiccup and lost some posts today.

Mark, you mentioned adding Berlinas to your book. While I know nothing about Giulia Supers I am a big fan of post '69 Berlinas. AlfaBB member "super-racer" owns a racing '67 Super, and members "magista" and "jthraen" own Berlinas.

I'd be interested in a copy of your book.

Check out the racing Supers at http://www.squadrabianca.nl/. I got these pictures from their site.

Kai,

Sorry to confuse you guys. There are three copies of this thread running since I was trying to get it going. Unfortunatly they are all independent threads and not combined. You original post was to one of of the other threads.

This thread is running in the Motorsports Forum, The Everything Alfa Forum, and the GTV Forum.

Squardra Bianca, NL

FYI,
The Giulia Supers running in the NL Squardra Bianca are very cool and very, very fast. Other than the body they really have no resemblance to period Super race cars. They run twin spark 2 liters with fully developed after-market suspensions. They go like hell, look really, really cool but are not 'historic' racers. I dont have a problem with this and wish they ran here in Italy, I would jump in with both feet. I am limited to the FIA 1965 homologation specs and they are very tough.

Saw an awesome Giulia Super at Laguna Seca. 2.0 TS, Electromotive, JE Pistons, carillo rods, 4-throttle (TWM), etc.

Sedans are cool. The Giulia is a very beautiful car!

It was my dad's first car back in 1970 (he owned a Ti) and later on a Berlina 1750.

UK Alfisti, maybe you can try the Alfa Digest (www.digest.net) and see if you can catch a hold of the Katchee brothers. They own the aforementioned Giulia and also race a Giulia Super. They are very fast! It would be cool if you could get some info about them in your book along with some photos of their cars.

Kattchee Bros.

The Kattchee Bros. have two of the nicest Giulia Sedan's around. One is a "sleeper" Super with 2.o twin spark and the other is a B Sedan Ti race car.

They also make cool parts:

-aluminum pressure plate like in the 911S which are no longer available

-drive shaft donut scatter shields.

and probably more. for more info email chris kattchee he is very friendly and can help you with the items listed above or if you want to know more on what they did to their twin spark super

In the US the Giulia sedan expert

is Dave Mericle. He has a Colli wagon, a TI super and a '67 Super. He and Pat Braden were very close, and he dropped out of sight somewhat after Pat's death last August. He also will NOT put up with any of the Alfa club political BS...
