Electric fuel pump questions

When plumbing the electric fuel pump in a race car is it best to go from the fuel cell through a filter and then to the pump ( i guess to protect the pump ? ) or from the cell through the pump THEN pushed through the filter ?

Another question: I got a heck of a deal on a kinda large fuel cell that has dual pickups ( left and right rear corners ). I've thought of running dual pumps but that is a bit cost prohibitive and complicated. Which pickup is typically used ? Other ideas ?

Also any photos of mounts, etc would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a LOT

Dan

You often put a coarse filter between fuel cell and pump, and a fine filter between pump and engine. The purpose of the coarse filter is to prevent stuff from the cell to enter the pump. Sometimes you also put a check-valve to ease starting.

Mille Grazie !!

Anyone have a favorite filter brand ? I'm impressed by the Canton products, but I'm wondering if I should stay with something less esoteric just in case I need to repair/replace where I'll have to shop for spares.
