This is a real bummer. Honda pulled its funding and expected Aguri to find its own financial backers. Seems the bread required by SA to design and construct its own chassis (per the rules), along with all the other capital requirements, would cut into Honda's "Ross Brawn please help our abysmal team" fund (or something like that). C'mon Nick Fry, pony up, I don't see Button or Rubens passing a Mclaren for position.

Massa gets his 2nd. P1 in a row! Hekki, w/only 2 weeks of 'healing-up' from that dreadful crash in Barcelona, grabs P2, & Hamilton is P3. Kimi has the 4th. spot.....
Pretty 'ho-hum' qualies.
Regards
ps---again there's "talk" about Massa & his possible 'tenuous' position w/Ferrari.....are they nuts??? Dutifully, he finishes 2nd. behind his-team-leader & now he's won 2 PPs in a row! Seems to be contributing his-fair-share to the Team...but the 'Team' still is yakking-up Alonso??? I can't believe it.

I wonder how many cigarettes Marlboro sells in Brazil compared to Spain. They'd be crazy to cut Filipe loose just to bring in Alonso. All of which says nothing about the team order problems they'd have with a Raikkonen/Alonso ticket. It would make last years McLaren hen party pale in comparison. Of course, some say there's no such thing as bad publicity...

According to Speed Network's Bob Varsha: Ferrari will no longer have the name Marlboro showing on their race cars...the 'bar-code-logo' is now permanent.
I agree. Bringing Alonso to Ferrari is a very bad idea! As I said earlier, "Phil " Massa is doing a good job--for now.
Regards.

I've heard the same thing about Marlboro's logos but don't they still provide significant financial support to the team? Certainly they must expect some bounce from what must be a huge wad of cash. It wouldn't surprise me if they have talent scouts in Russia and China right now!

The white triangle on a red background is actually recognizable enough that they don't need the black "Marlboro" to still be getting substantial advertising value--still worth paying for.

Good F1 racing today...First time in a while we had a 'pass-for-the-lead', and it wasn't in-the-pits!
Most of the really good racing was 'up-track'...Heikki the K & Glocks' wheel-to-wheel was very entertaining stuff! Hamilton's pass on Massa was, almost, Mansell-like!
Hopefully all the 'dump-Massa-nonsense' is now over! He did a good job for Ferrari.
Regards.

Yes, Massa has earned his keep lately. Unless his season backslides and begins to mimic his first couple of races this year, he should be secure at Ferrari. Seems the Pod Person has been withdrawn, and The Real Massa has been returned! On a semi-related note: If it DID wind up to be a Raikks-Alonso Ferrari team in the future, that'll be the first time in my life that I actively pull against the Ferraris...I hope it doesn't come to that, but I don't like EITHER of those guys!
BMW did well again...especially Air Missile Kubica. It may be only a matter of time before a BMW is on the top podium step. That would be a great thing for the sport, so 'come on the lads'! Can't wait to see that happen...

Yep. BMW is showing 'signs-of-life'...hopefully they can keep it going! I'm surprised to see M. Webber keeps scoring points---wonder what he could do w/a "real" race car(?)---I think Webber has tallied more points than Alonso(?).
As long as Ferraris come in on top, I'd really like to see the rest of the teams fighting it out for the "also-ran" slots! I'd love to see BMW out battle McLaren for 2nd.! I'm still waiting for Rubens to 'shock-the-F1-world' w/a podium finish!
Regards.

Well, "Rubens in a crap car" is the direct opposite of what you suggested regarding "Webber in a real car"....shows that the driver is truly only the half of it....I think Webber would be outstanding in a front-running car, as was Rubens (in the Schumi era).

It looks like like Jenson Button is selling out to Honda just as Jaque did.?.? THe only reason I would think that a driver with a lot of talent would want to stay there is the $$$$$, or... they do not think they are maketable any place else.?.?
Kind of a bummer to see Jenson stay with a crap team.

No faith that Ross can pull another rabbit out of the hat!? Anyway, it should be interesting to see if Sato gets Barrichello's seat now that they've axed Super Aguri.

LOL!!! No... not really any Faith that, alone, Ross can pull it off. Ross had AMAZING talent working around him at Ferrari... most of which, Michael had pulled together. Plus... all those talented people got incredible feedback from Michael in regards to the car... in order help zero in their talents to make a near perfect car for an amazing driver.
I don't see that happening at Honda. I think Honda are an amazing engine supplier as proved in the late eighties with lotus and then McLaren. I think that as a supplier to someone like Red Bull or Torro Rosso, the combination of talents as far as CHassis people and Honda as the Engine supplier, could do amazing things again.
Same goes for Toyota.
But... that's just me... thinking out loud.

Tires ! It's all about how to use them. Looks like you gotta build the car around the tires.

SUre has been quite on this thread lately.?.?
SOunds like Mosely is stirring the pot... even starting to piss off Bernie.?.? Personally... I think Max is loosing it and has been over the past bunch of years. His unprofessional comments about people such as Jacki Stewart, The inconsistent punishments put on teams such as McLaren and Renault when it came to espionage, some of his regulations changes and his reasoning behind them, An artical I read in F1 Racing on his explination of the Soul and whe he did not thing the Soul carried on after death was (right or wrong) not very logical coming from such a smart person, and Now this letter lashing out at all the clubs and threatening the FIA. Plus... he continues to claim SO strongly that his latest escapade is a PERSONAL matter yet he continues to use ALL of the FIA's resources and MONEY (A LOT OF IT) to fight this "Personal" battle. He has become, I think, a very inconsistant person in his thoughts an reasoning.?.?
