I said it last year and I'll say it again. Massa is a fast driver but he continues to prove (to me) that he is a poor racer. Doesn't belong in the Majors, IMO.

Yet, he's better than 60% of the other drivers!

I think that 60% of the other drivers just don't have a car like Massa. Massa only seems good and calm when he has clear road in front of him and does not have to chase or actually have to race or pass competitive cars. He does pretty good passing slow cars... the ones he can pass on the straights.

Massa is becoming history in Ferrari, Alonso will be next season driving Massa's car (I hope)

Personally of the rumors between Alanso or Vettel coming to Ferrari i would rather see it be Vettel. I think he's really talented and wouldn't be bring all the baggage Alanso would.

If I remember correctly, McLaren was trying to persuade Kimi to stay for 2007 to partner with Alonso. This was before Lewis revealed himself to be more than capable of doing well in Formula 1, and many were nervous about him being too inexperienced. It was billed as a possible dream team. I agree with marco here though.
I am still not totally sold on having two aces, with the Prost/Senna, RSchu/Montoya, and Hamilton/Alonso pairings being less than amicable. Modern F1 success has been mainly achieved with clear favorites (Schumi/Barrichello, Alonso/Fisi, Mika/David). Though Massa considered himself an equal last year, he also brought himself out of the championship with his own mistakes, and he gave the lead to Kimi in the final race in his home Grand Prix to seal the championship. Massa started the season pretty poorly last year, too. I think a less impetuous Massa would be far better than some self-defeating rivalry with Alonso and Kimi, if Massa can actually change such a thing, of course. We know Vettel is fast, but he is still a largely unknown quantity--coping with Ferrari is much different than torro rosso or as a BMW tester--but so was Kimi when he was yanked out of formula renault to race for Sauber, and of course the aforementioned Hamilton...

Great job from BMW this weekend! I really like that team.
Wasn't nearly the thriller that Austrailia was, now was it?
Finally: Who is this Pod Person that Ferrari has replaced Massa with? You know...the Pod Person who looks just like Felipe Massa, but who has no longer has any ability whatsoever to turn right? (Complicated stuff, that 'turning right'...perhaps Pod Person should have a go at the dreaded NASCAR)

Kubica On Pole!
WHAT?
Massa lost the pole to BMW on the final lap of 'qualies'. This is the 1st. time in 22 GPs that a Ferrari or McLaren hasn't been on pole! What on earth is happening?
Should be a good race tomorrow...

All weekend the talk was how much BMW was lacking in streight line speed. Fuel load has to be the key. However I believe Kubi has the desire really bad along with the rest of the team. Hamilton and Kimi could have loads of fuel on board. Will be fun to watch!

Tough I'm totally behind Air Missle Kubica (he's a breath of fresh air in F1), I do chalk it up to 'low fuel load'. But still, what a totally INTERESTING grid lineup for tomorrow! I'm really looking forward to seeing how this shakes out. Good job, Kubi, low fuel load or not...

It was quite surprising to see BMW handily out pace the lead McLaren and nip at Ferrari throughout the race. Now the squad leads the constructor's championship and appears to have slotted above Mclaren in terms of performance. Ferrari seems to have a clear edge, and Kimi's second place, which he achieved despite a stated dislike of the setup and the track, amplifies this. But, as Ron Dennis said previously, the teams ought to be judged after the return to Europe, when the first updates come.
So Hamilton runs into his arch-nemesis and cannot recover to score points; I really expected him to at least finish eighth, especially given his car's performance advantage.

From MY perspective, Bahrain was a F1 with a plot straight out of Hollywood - the good guys won, the bad guys ate dirt. Look at the plot:
- Felipe wins, proving that he isn't just a test driver, a #2, about to be replaced, ...
- Kimi pulls ahead in the points
- Kubica gets the pole - OK, he does it with an empty fuel tank, but hey, first time something other than a Ferrari/McLaren has been on the pole in a long long time.
- Kubica has a podium finish - his first, yes?
- Quick Nick finishes 4th, putting BMW Sauber ahead in constructors' points
- Three different winners in the first three races of '08 - this has the potential to be an exciting season
- Hamilton and Alonso run into each other - it would be fun to hear their "discussion" after the race
- Hamilton also has a shunt in practice - hmm, maybe he doesn't have superpowers after all
- Max Mosely takes a page out of Elliott Spitzer's playbook
