I agree, and how about an on-board mechanic in the passenger seat.

Please note that I'm all for the extreme cutting edge innovation & technology that F1 is famous for. I really am. But the ONE exception to that, in my mind, is in the gearbox area. In order to make the driver much more of a factor in launches, and of course in general driving, I'd REALLY like to see a return to gear levers and clutch pedals. Aside from that, may the the engineering continue to be aerospace quality (and better)! Cheers,
David

They are going to be limiting the amount and type of aero down force next year so maybe the slicks are a trade off, replacing the lost traction?

The nice thing about mechanical grip vs. Aero is that Mechanical grip is always their... where as Aero decreases as speed decreases. And... Mechanical grip does not affect the handleing of the car that is drafting. Personally, I think they need to do away with all of the winglets and channels that dominate the chassis of an F1 car these days... along with the reintroduction of slicks.

They were talking about all the rules changes in recent years, to include the 1.8, by the rules makers in their effort to reduce costs. Of course, the massive amounts of R&D required by the news rules had the opposite effect on costs.
My understanding is that the current engine spec is frozen until 2010.

Great 'qualies' this morning! Kimi's pole run came at the very final moment. Alonso came out of nowhere to P2, & Massa starts P3.
My predictions: Alonso will pit-for-fuel w/in the first 6 laps! And Hamilton will finish 'out-of-the-money'---he may get a point or two, but no podium!
Should be 'another' Ferrari 1-2 Sweep! My 'longshot' pick: Rubens gets a podium(3rd.) for Honda!
Regards.

If you're a Ferrari fan, today's GP was a good one! Kimi went wire-to-wire. Massa made a great start & stayed in 2nd. Hamilton actually passed a couple of cars & finished 3rd.!
Hekki's crash was gruesome & scary as hell...I was greatly relieved to hear he suffered only minor injuries...I thought he was dead, or at least gravely injured. Luck & a well constructed car saved him!
Regards.

It was a very boring GP. I stayed asleep after the kovalainen accident.
I hope that with the new rules for next season everything will change ...

Paco-
Apparently the race was "boring" to you because your 'countryman' DNF'd!
Don't give up, he might win another race, someday. I wouldn't bet on it though...
Regards.

Glad that Heikki didn't wind up decapitated or something. That's the worst accident we've had since Air Missile Kubica's low-level supersonic flight last year. Thanks for being well Heikki...we're all breathing again!

Doesn't matter Alonso result, the important is that Renault is a little better now compared with the rest of teams.
I would like to see Renault (Alonso) fighting with McLaren (Hamilton), that's all.
Paco.
