Hey John,
Any word on the results of the vote on the proposed rule-change that would have allowed the Datsuns and later 2 litre Alfas to run vintage as well...?

The appeal to me is that it features under 2 liter. I can run with a mixed field of bigger cars at my local track and save a 1200 mile tow.
How about two shorter races with one for the later cars.

Don't worry-
Re-read the first post- this event is for the U-2 era, not the 2.5 Challenge. Real fans of the series know there were three "eras"- pre 911, two years with 911s and the 2.5 challenge. I think it's a good idea to stick to pre 69 to give the smaller bore cars a chance. As Bob has pointed out most clubs don't narrow down the field in this way. As I stated earlier the biggest potential drawback to the proposed format is to check or screen the 911s. Fred.

Sovren is a Democratic club and a rule proposal was submitted to change our eligibilty for production cars from 1969 to 1972. The members voted it down ( in flames) our rules are the same as they have been 1969 cutoff date.

Date for U-2 race-
Should be May 17th and 18th according to SOVREN's 08 schedule. Fred.

This looks to be the only U2L Trans-Am event in 08

They have the correct dates on the Sovren website but the schedule is still the one from last year. I want to run this event. Is this a 4.77 diff or a 5.12 diff track? Anyone that has run a GTA or GTV on the Pacific Raceway track want to part with some tips?
I like the idea of the mixed grid and paying tribute to the early U2L Trans-Am.

Can Am Bob,
Good to see you're thinking of heading to the Northwest. You might want to check this video link from the Northwest Alfa Romeo Club website, which is taken from a chasing 911, showing Steve Schaeffer's GTA duking it out with some other 911's at Pacific Raceways. The action starts at the exit of Turn 3B at the bottom of the track.

I look forward to seeing you in Seattle in May. I plan to run my #3 Tri-color look-alike GTV if it, or the driver can hold on for that many laps. Cheers,

Great to do a couple of laps again--even if vicariously.

Seattle diffs-
Bob- you'd better plan on the 4.78 -you'd be doing alot of feathering with the 5.12. With the 4.78, a 24" tire and a .88 5th we see 7600 rpm at the end of the straight. Hope that helps, Fred.

Thanks for the advice Fred. I just bought a 4.78 from Christian Bovensiepen
and will plan on using that in one of my diffs. I have the close ratio gearbox with a .85 fifth gear. Tires are 23.7 diameter (205/60R14 Dunlaps) so this set up should be ok.
This can be a great event if we can get a good field of diverse early U2L cars.
