If you give me a list privately of the cars, their owners, and contact info. I will start working on it immediately. I don't have the authority to make final decisions, but I do have the organizers ear.

Andy

Or, they could simply go to Alfa Enduro Race 2008 Home take 2 seconds, register, and there are no worries.

Hey guyz,

If you're thinking this a long trip for one convention / race-day, consider the fact that the VSCDA is running a full weekend of races on June 12 thru 15th at Blackhawk Farms Raceway (1.9 mile course) near Rockford, Illinois which is only about 2 hours from the convention site. You could arrive as late as the 14th to race that event, run the 19th during the convention, and keep on truckin' to the SVRA event at Mid-Ohio that begins on the 26th and runs thru the 29th. And, then, only two weeks later in Elkhart Lake Wisconsin on July 17th thru 20th you can run the Brian Redman International Challenge - SVRA.

Got races?

You bet we do!

Ken

Who among us has connections with the U.S. re-entering effort of Alfa Romeo (Fiat)?. They should be all over this event as well as the AROC convention. It seems to me that it would be appropriate for them to put up a "traveling fund" for the long-haul contingent. Are there any other potential event sponsors?

The good, the bad and the rest..............

The good: I plan on being there.
The bad: I don't plan to bring the #999 Spider
The rest: I have too much going on this year.

I wish I can plan for this race but I have lots of things going on at work, China, more work, more work........

I'll go and cheer, hopefully there are a lot of cars like @ The Glen and Mid Ohio and it turns out to be the biggest GTA Reunion.

For you all who are not familiar with my "Geezer vs. Vintage vs. Whippersnapper" Performance Index, here it is:
(Please note that so far, there has been ZERO people who have endorsed this clearly just concept!!!...) :-(

So...
I am forced to press on without any support for this clearly just concept!

The definition of the Performance Index is:

A) Whippersnapper = Was not born when the car was first raced (i.e. Anthony, Fabrizio, etc...)
B) Vintage Racer = Was born (but too young to drive) when the car was first raced.
C) Geezer = Raced the damn things when they were NEW.

The Index should be: A Whippersnapper gives .2 sec/lap to a geezer, and /1 sec./ lap to a Vintage driver, While a Vintage Driver gives .1 sec / lap to a Geezer...

Oh screw it! I'll just have to step up and beat you kids flat...
That's the way it should be anyway!

Rick,
A few things...
1) The lap I turned my 1:38.2 you were probably turning a 1:42.00 being that you could not turn anything under 1:40 that whole weekend.
2) Your 1:36.88 minutes of fame may not be that great afterall, being that at the bottom of the timing sheet provided to us that race there was a note saying that there were issues with the following car's transponders, #33 Clemente being one of those names.
3)If I had your time and money I would definitely be at the Chicago race but lemme remind you that I'm 23 and can't afford my own house like you so am still renting an apartment. I have to watch my pennies a lit more than you do.
4) The more sh*t you talk the more I realize who all those articles in vintage racing magazines about vintage racing being for fun and not for money are directed to. Here you go SCCA - Sports Car Club of America

Actually, Fabrizo, the results of that weekend (April 2, 2006 WSIR VARA) were documented on My Laps as follows:
Fastest Laps:
681 Anthony Rimicci 1:38.366 91.495 -
680 Fabrizio Rimicci 1:40.688 89.385 -
33 Rick Clemente 1:36.887 92.892 -
And there was no question as to the transponder... review the My Laps Charts to see reality...

Fabrizo:
By the way, RE - SCCA etc., I've been there, done that... at my advanced age I don't have anything to prove.
You're single and working at a good job, making good money... when I was 23 I was crew-chiefing on a TransAm team for no pay, I didn't have a dad with a race shop. Either you have the passion or you don't. I think you clearly have the talent... the rest is up to you.
BTW: The same applies to Anthony...
I'd love to see you guys step up! Nothing would please me mor than to see you pull away and go for it!

I guess by these definitions my older brother is a "Whippersnapper", while I'm a "Vintage Racer". Man this is getting confusing! But let's not forget. At
Autobahn, the handicapping system is going to reward consistency, not outright speed. Of course it will also reward sand-bagging in qualifiying, but that's another story. Three seconds is a LOT of time on a <2 mile course!

Erik

Does sitting in them new on the showroom floor making vroom vroom noises count as raceing them when they were new? I always won those races...those were the good ole days.

Regarding the sandbagging rules; The 3 seconds was arbitrary as was the 1.16 lap time for race groups. During the time trials earlier in the day SATCAR will make determinations on race group cut-off times as well as sandbagging penalty limits. Not that any of this matters because we are all honest, rule abiding racers that would ever dream of creatively interpreting the rules to our personal advantage.

Andy:
It's not sandbagging... it's "strategic planning."
