I would participate in some sort of Midwest wheel to wheel race. Having been part of the TT & AX planning for the 2004 New England convention I'd say it'd be a challenge to pull off. If there's a track day available in the right time frame, and a vintage racing organization willing to facilitate, it could work out. You'd need to announce this soon. I know my summer vacation plans happen early in the new year.
The picture below was during a VARAC event at Mosport this summer. A high horsepower track but a true road course with three very fast 4th gear turns where you turn in and can't see the apex!

We are in the process of negotiating something with Autobahn. The thought is: AROC "Time Trials" from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, the AROC event would end at four (period).
We are attempting to get an additional 4 hrs of track time under a separate "group" not CAROC. Thus, allowing open track from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Autobahn is willing to work with this "group" on an hourly basis. It will costs somewhere around $1,300 per hour +/-. We will soon define a "group" of volunteers to handle the organization of such an event. This group will need to find a method of receiving payments from participants and holding the deposits for the additional track time. For an additonal $150. / $200. per car "WE CAN DO IT!"
This will be a GOD's sent type of ALFA worship day. Let's put it this way, the "Sperm Bank Trucks will be lined up that day".
In regards to insurance, CAROC has always bought it's own insurance for many years, places like Road America and Autobahn will NOT accept it. We have not used the National Insurance for quite some time. The $1,300 per hour will also include Insurance and Ambulance.

Absolutely great photos guys. The racing paint schemes are exactly where I'm going with my junior. I especially like the one at the top of the thread.

Count me in.
I'd bring my GTV.
Go here for a list of entrants from the "all Alfa" race from the 2005 Alfa's at the Glen. Good list of suspects.

Nice stuff I've just been reading.
I've been off in vacation land (boring hanging with non racers?)
all this month. And so very sorry to miss the important festivities. I will sell my prime car to someone wanting a ridiculously over prepared, ever so fast GTV. Then bring the other one once it is completed to the BIG RACE. Definitely wheel to wheel. Rick, Anthony, Eliot, we have GOT to do this next year.

Actually Anthony, I do.
I NEED THAT 18 WHEELER FULL OF GTA HERE IN CHICAGO ON JUNE 19th 2008!!
The sanctioning body is busy gathering rules and regulations, a deposit has been given, all we are missing is a bunch of crazy Alfisti and their cars. Please help spread the word.
How is that for a Christmas wish.

You are also missing the "rental car option" (Detroit style ) for those of us who don't have a qualifying car ...
It's a great Xmas present, Carm! I'm very much looking forward to the 50th anniversary bash, and this race will make it that more special!
Best regards,

Race Car Rental
Enrique, providing one has a valid racing license, I believe a few of our racing members have talked about making a couple of their racing cars available to rent. I can post who they are once I hear more from them.

Carm,
It's great to hear that some members are considering rentals. I must confess however that I am not qualified to drive in any wheel-to-wheel race. 2008 will be the first year I will be a member of the SVRA, and I will be going through their program, but I know that it takes time to develop the proper proficiency. I won't miss the event nonetheless, and I will be enjoying the track day either way.
Best regards,

Carm: Will Autobahn enforce its sound limits? Quoting from their website - we need the Bobby Rahal exemption.
"Autobahn CC Strictly Enforces Sound Limits.
Autobahn's sound limits are and always have been 105 db.
Sound levels are monitored every day at different times of the day.
There are several spots on the tracks that we monitor from.
We have a non-negotiable policy of adhering to 105 db.
If your car is over 105db you will have to muffle it, or not run it.
Thank You
Autobahn CC Management
Note: Does not apply to Bobby Rahal Historic Races"

Looking forward to the promised details

Wil, that is one sweet stepnose you have! I got myself a new desktop!Autobahn management is aware of the event and have approved it. These types of events are typical at Autobahn. Of course, this event will make special history if everyone promises to bring the hardware. Besides, Alfas are extremely quiet, right?
