There were a lot of transponder problem through out the race. The first one in the car didn't work at all. That was for about thirty minutes, they finally black flagged and said it wasn't reading. Around 5:30 it got knocked loose and layed behind the seat on the floor for about an hour. Don't know if it was reading during that period, but a few places were lost during that span when the car was running very well.
Such is life.
The Saab ran great lap times, and great top speeds throughout the race, without any down time other than driver changes. I know #70 finished better than the standings show, but, heck, it was more about fun than anything else.

Well, I am in a team for the Mid-West race but we are not fielding a Alfa. Sadly, no budget for driving so I will be part of the pit crew.

I hear there may be a true 24hr race at ThunderHills sometime this winter. Several previous LeMons teams have been contacted to gauge interest.

25 hours...
The Saab -may- run again. I guess it won't get chopped up into dumpster-friendly sized pieces after all.

The 25hr at T-Hill happens every year in December and it is a serious deal with quite a few big names and big $ efforts. We have raced it in several classes, running a Spec-Miata, a BMW touring car (got second overall to a 993 Porsche driven by Randy Pobst) and lastly a new MX5 that was a factory backed Mazda effort. It is a fun event. Last year a team showed up with some trick diesel powered 3 series BMW touring cars!

24 Hours of Lemons at Thunderhill
Jay Lamm, the chief perpetrator for the Lemons races, has been contacted by T'hill about a race there the last weekend of the year. Jay put out a feeler on the Lemons forum to gauge interest in a true 24 hour event. Most people on the forum would love to run a real road course. Plans are still up in the air but it will not be the full course and the main straight will have some chicanes to keep the speeds down around the Lemons speeds of 70-80 MPH. Who wants to go much faster than that in a $500 car?
Team California Mille has hammered out most of the dents from the July race, put a new brake master in the car so we'll have brakes again, have a proper race seat to mount and some other maintenance to do and then we'll be back for the Oct. race.

Sorry, but why the 74 GTV???....many of us would rather see this car be used differently.

IIRC: The '74 was pure Swiss cheese'd with rust, beyond salvage. It's was either life in the Lemons or death in the crusher, I was happy to see it given a lease on life.

I just stumbled across this thread two days ago. Great pictures guys! This sure looks like fun!
I was surprised to just find a follow-up article in my October Car and Driver on the July 7th event. Were there two Frito Bandito (clearly not a politically-correct event) teams? (hence the "Dos"?)

A lap took about 55 seconds, less if traffic allowed, more if, say, the Frito Bandito Mark VII spun in front of you.

There's no way in hell a car mag guy could mistake a Milano for a Lincoln Mark VII!

I think the team had factory efforts from both Alfa Romeo and Ford!
