2.5 Challenge

The Vintage 2.5 Challenge will be running at Willow Springs on March 7-8 with HSR-West. About 30 cars are expected to show up. Everything from GTA's, GTV's, Datsun 510's, BMW 2002's, and Ford Cortina and Escorts are expected to show up and race. Admission is $10 for a two day pass. You can pay at the gate when you arrive. There will be about 5-9 other run groups that weekend with everything from vintage small bore production cars to historic Formula 1 cars. Come out and enjoy the weekend and cheer on the Alfa's! Hope to see you there. For more information, go to B Sedan

I will be there

I will be there with my 1969 Alfa Romeo GTV Race Car
It is going to be my first real race and I am pretty excited. Does anyone know how many laps there are going to be?

Race Length

The general length of a 2.5 challenge race at Willow Springs is 11 laps. The race is generally 20-30 minutes in length. Last season at Laguna Seca, we were given a 40 minute race. Everyone was running on fumes at the end...it was great, we were all waiting for each other to run out of gas!

Looks like we got a late race on Sunday.

RTB, wanna pit together? I will be at Willow on Friday testing the #71 car for our customer, so I can get some decent pit space before the Friday afternoon crowd shows up and takes it all with their busses and motorhomes. When you guys heading up there?

In the picture above, I'm hoping you gave those Porsches a run for there money. Inless there lapping you (not trying to offend you, but those damn Porsches are fast). How did you hang with the Porsche's is what I want to know.

Ready To Go Racing

#71 is all set to go testing tomorrow. The car was bought in November in "as is" condition. In January, we took it to the track and discovered the oiling system was set up wrong and the clutch was slipping. After about a lap, all the oil would come out and head straight for the rear wheels...scary. We fixed that problem as well as the clutch so, hopefully it will be going strong this weekend.

P.S. I am still going crazy shooting pics with my digital camera.

wow

What an amazing race. I am sure Sniady and Simon can agree with me, they were there both days and I bet they are happy they didn't miss a thing. Everyone's times were about 2 seconds faster than usual thanks to ideal weather and having a run group after two races that had cars with W I D E slicks which covered the track in nice sticky rubber. Congrat's to Richard Beard for being the rookie of the race. Keep it up man, you have hte best shot for Rookie of The Year with the 2.5 Challenge. Hey Richard I need to start training for the upcoming 2.5 Challenge races, wanna train with me? I my car is 25lbs. overweight and I figured taking 10lbs. off me, installing fiberglass hood and trunk, I should be at legal 2.5 Challenge weight.

Attached image is of:
Tom Neely Datsun 510 #19
Bob Wass Alfa GTV #85
Richard Beard Alfa GTV #108
Marissa Clay BMW 2002 #22

all three are excellent drivers and have very well prepared cars just as the rest of the field. I threw this pic up because it shows the nice variety of cars competing in the 2.5 Challenge. I will post results with lap times later unless someone beats me to it.

Yeah it would be fun training for races. As you probably know we are 40 lbs overweight and at least 20 should come from my end.
I am gonna try to beat you with the post of the times. May not happen but its my competative nature.

Thanks
Richard

P.S. my neice that was there both days. curly hair, short, thought you were hot. Just letting you know.
