GT 3 Alfa GTV
I just received these pics from a friend. Can someone please tell me something about this car?
Greatly appreciated,
Carm

The car represents the extremes allowed in SCCA racing today. While I don't know anything specific, it seems to have the same type tube frame construction as Jack Beck's car from Omaha, Nebraska. The last picture appears to be at Watkins Glen; this is the only track I know of with powder blue guard rails.

I don't know this car in particular, but there were a few 2L cars raced in SCCA GT3. If I'm not mistaken, someone on the west coast is restoring a very trick car that Dino Crescentini raced. In GT classes, the engine and the basic shape of the body are about all that resembles the car that came from the factory. Short of forced induction or changes in displacement, you can do about anything you want to the engine. Suspension is nearly unlimited, although I believe they outlawed the "rocker arm" suspension on Beck's car. Heck, there are even a lot of rear wheel drive Mini's racing in GT! The SCCA politics finally got to Jack Beck and he has retired his car. By the way, the first picture looks like Mid-Ohio to me, and the second Watkins Glen.
Carm, do you know anything else about the pictures?

The last time I saw this car it belonged to Mac Russell. It is a tube frame GTV. Some pictures are in front of his shop in Redmond, WA. I'm sure some of the WA members will be familiar with it, as it was quite a successful car on the West coast.

I will know more tomorrow. As of today, I received this pics as if someone in the Chicagoland area is interested in the car. I know very little about it and thought that someone may have raced against it and shed some light about it. You stand corect Erik and it looks similar to the car Dino Crescentini raced years back, I believe it once made the cover of the "Alfa Owner".
By the way Erik, I own a ton of great pics of your car from a while back when Mike Besic drove it. I tried scanning them, but they go directly to to a word document and thus become to long to paste on the BB. You would enjoy them for sure.

To my knowledge the Dino Crescentini and this one are not identical. The Crescentini car was to my knowledge built by Steven Ruiz, whereas Mac Russell's car is I believe more of Jack Beck lineage.

I believe the Alfa pictured is on the Northwest coast. The owner told me
a few years back that the frame and suspension were built by Jack Beck as
a replica of his blueGT5 car, but that they had modified it for their own body and of course for 15 instead of 13 inch wheels. Had a 1750cc engine, Colotti
gear box, had not been raced in several years and was seriously for sale at something I remember as being around $40grand.
Would be a full tube frame car ineligible for any vintage/historic groups at this time. Even the best Alfa would no longer be competitive in SCCA GT racing today. Additionally GT3, while still pretty strong on the west coast is one of the dieing SCCA classes that will probably lose it's National status in the next two years and no longer be a part of the runoffs. Their are currently several very seriously built Nissan and other GT3 cars for sale with serious spare engines/gearboxes/bodies and current frame/suspension designs, fuel injection ect. that are for sale for significantly less and can not find buyers even though they may have cost close to 150large or more to build.
Would make a very, very cool track day car for someone though.

To my knowledge the Crescentini car was designed and fabricated by me (chassis and suspension) at Vintage Prep
