Disappointed that Farfus is no longer with Alfa. I am both Brazilian-born and Alfisti. Farfus won in Curitiba and BMW did well there.
I am not impressed with the drivers Alfa has in WTCC this year ...

StephanAlfa..I couldnt agree more these two guys just cut it man...I've seen SCCA drivers drive more agressively than these guys maybe if they were Alfist like us they'll give it all they got. Its a shame that FIAT wont sponsor the Alfa Romeo brand in the WTCC where everybody goes at it. Alfa Romeo went from being the most feared cars back in 1999,2000,2001,2002, ect, ect. All this really tells me that FIAT doesnt really care.

Actually the Maserati brand should sponsor the Alfa given the new series are actually being made at maserati plants rather than FIAT. Then again Maserati needs to beg funds from Ferrari and they are not doing that well either.
So there you have it: spaghetti!
You are right about some die-hard SCCA Alfisti, I have seen better driving than that new Alfa bunch at WTCC.

Thompson is an EXCELLENT driver; in fact I think he won the BTCC one year, before it became "incorporated" into the WTCC. The problem is basically that Alfa is running with a 4 year old car that has been "developed", rather than a new one, and the cars that are racing are far more a privateer effort than the BMWs, the SEATs, and even the Chevys!

Great videos, thanks for posting!
The trick with using a chain to bend the frame back was fun to watch.

BTTC in those days did not mean much. Alain Menu did BTTC and when he went elsehere he was mediocre. Trua, Alfa is using "old" cars. Not trying to knock Thompson ... I am just not impressed, that's all.

"We want to compete in the WTCC but at the moment it isn't fixed. If we compete it will be with the 147," Alfa sport boss Claudio Berro said to Autosport.
Earlier it was reported that the new 159 would be used. But Alfa Romeo insists on using the 147 for two years before evaluating their situation.

FIAT in WTCC 2008?
From the April 2007 issue of Racecar Engineering a one-sentence tid bit:
"FIAT is evaluating the the WTCC with its Bravo model."
So it looks as if the 2008 corporate strategy is FIAT to WTCC and Alfa to FIA GT2 with the 8C.
The FIAT Bravo:
