Yea those were the REAL dtm racing days man just raw out racing. Today the DTM........BOOOOOORRRRRRIIINGGG, no competition at all..well ok MERC vs. Audi .. I cant compare which of the two are more dull. eversince the new regulations that those geniuses came out with just burried the series, to me its not even worth whaching, just like the supercar races...How can you call it "SuperCar" race where you only have Ford vs. Chevy?? I mean HELLOOOOO Same ordeal with the DTM now. I wouldnt call it DTM more like AUDI vs. MERC series. To me a race series that has a name that defines many car makes ect, ect. should exactly be that. What Im trying to say is that back in the 80s 90s DTM really meant what it was not just 2 automanu.. but many racing for the gold. I dont know Just the way I look at it. I understand that funding for teams car makes ect.ect. take a big role in this but why damage the series?

That is quite an incredible video!!! Why can't there be road racing like that here in the States? It seems that there is a real divide between the NASCAR crowd and those of us that prefer road racing that could be bridged by awesome racing like that exhibited in the video. Who are the incompetent boobs that were in charge of promoting that series anyway?

hmm, I think they are; I know for a fact that they had active suspension at the very least.

Saw them race at Silverstone the year they took the DTM Championship. If I remember correctly, there were quite a number of manufactorers, including Volvo who entered an estate car driven by Rickart Rydell, great racing. Shame the 155 never really sold well in the UK.

That was in the BTCC, not in DTM. Great year for the series with lot's of manufactures present.

DTM, like F1, got very techie.... too expensive and techie for most manufactures/teams. That's why you saw so many different manufacturers in the British Touring Car Championships. It was a bit more of a spec series allowing less mods to the cars.

Did Bernie really get involved in DTM for a while?

The DTM became the ITCC for 2.5 liter cars for (I believe) 2 years before it changed back to a German series. Prior to racing in the DTM, Alfa ran 2 liter turbos in the Italian supertouring series. A number of other countries also had series for 2 liter turbo touring cars. They, of course, have also run normally asperated 2 liters in the BTCC.

Here in Australia we have the V8 SuperCar series with Holden and Ford. If they didn't have "Holden" or "Ford" in large letters on the back of the cars, you wouldn't be able to tell them apart. It is very popular though, and the race in Adelaide draws bigger crowds than the Grand Prix in Melbourne or the one in Adelaide in the past. I don't know what they see in it. I like to see a variety of cars battling it out. They don't televise the support races with the old cars, like Mustangs, Alfas etc. Then we have the single type races like the HQ Holdens, Porsche series, and the Ute racing which is all Holden and Ford utillities. Talk about boring!
