Alonso start 15th or so, and very quickly passed everyone to P1 - he would have probably won it all - but a safety car period bunched everyone behind him and a wheel nut went off after a mistake by a mechanic after a pit stop - and he crashed out when the wheel left the car.
Here is Alonso overtaking Schumacher on the outside in the wet -

Thanks for the Refresher... but still not convinced. Micheal had a terrible grid position and quickly was up to 5th place, only to get a flat while making a very clean pass on Fisi. So... not only did he have to make an unscheduled pit stop, but he had to do an entire lap on a flat rear which again put him in dead last... only to fly right back to a podium finnish. He definately showed his stuff in that, his final race!
Cheers

Not to take away from Michael's last race - it was a beauty - but he did not end on the podium (he finished 4th).
For my money - Alonso in the wet was spectacular.

Oops!... Thanks for the reminder! Ha ha ha!!!
Yes... Alanso was good in the wet on that day. But for Michael not to be, he must have surely had a poor set-up... or something else was arey.?.?

Schumi crashed into 2 cars. The one with Heidfeld took him out of the race. And as a reward he was given Kubica's place (8th = 1 point).
He admited into the interiew this was one of the mistakes he made this year. He also mention crashing into the wall in Australia, but no mention of Monaco.

The FIA cannot just reward someone with 1 point..what did RK do to have him excluded from the points?

MS crashed into Heidfeld at the end of the race thus RK 8th place was taken and given to MS.

That does not answer my question, what did Kubica do to be excluded from the points?

His car was found a little underweight at the end of the race.

Yes, that was it, Kubica was underweight and thus excluded, elevating MS into the points. A rookie mistake, failing to go off line and picking up a kg or two of marbles to get the car up to weight. Kudos to BMW though, for taking it well and not whining.

Kubica would have lost his position anyway. New regulations specify giving last position (or something) to some who completed a certain percetage of the race.

Yes, the Vodafone orange-red is gone. It certainly looks good, and much better than the new Renault with its multi-color scheme. The Ferrari rear is supposed to be significantly different, and is reported to be one of the most changed cars. Most of the others are like last year's. Honda's new car, like McLaren's, didn't last a lap on its debut run. The Renault has some interesting aero changes, wonder if they really make that much of a difference?
