Oh- now I remember.... almost 25% of the field didn't even finish (I mean, who could keep a car running on a lousy 100 million or so).... The young new hot-shoe, podium finish and all, too arrogant to even allow those pain-in-the-butt reporters a pre-race interview, you can keep him.... how many seconds behind was second place? 8 or 9?.... and go figure, the finish order almost exactly as predicted by thousands before the race? OH, my bad, someone made a cool pass on the first corner, but when was the next pass?... I'm sure there was one?... Just can't hardly wait the 3 WEEKS 'till the next GP. Wonder who's gonna win? I think tractor pulling is on!

Todd, babe!...Formula 1 is NOT for everyone. Just like NASCAR is NOT for everyone. Ditto CART, IRL, WRC, Tractor Pulling, etc. I hate NASCAR down to my very cells, but I don't spew about it here. Relax...use the channel change buttons on your remote with abandon! Cheers buddy,

davidteachey, I don't hate any version of motorsports. I'll pretty much watch any available broadcast of any motor racing event. I'm kind of a junky when it comes to racing. I have the ability to appreciate ALL motorsports, I can open my mind to understand the difference between the variations from Paris-Dakkar to F1, EVEN tractor pulling, but the sorry display of the start of the 07 F1 season was the reason for the SARCASM in my post. I'm glad I pushed your buttons, but really, could you really consider that a "good" F1 event? I have followed F1 for quite some time (believe it or not, it's not that hard to understand) and I have the intelligence to know the difference between F1 and NASCAR, etc., but IMHO that was a dismal event with zero excitement. Honda at P10 was the biggest news, and the arrogance of the new kid is just sickening. Why start the field at the same time if it's only a chess match or timing event. Run one car at a time if no one has the ability to pass. It would be safer for the drivers. I want the passion of the past, with drivers that aren't affraid to display a notion of character and emotion. IMHO, F1 has become a soap opera for ultra rich pretty only boys and the old farts that control them, that happen to drive the most beautiful, technologically advanced cars, but can't even speak up for themselves without drastic team and press criticism. It's sad, and not the way it should be, in any form of motorsports. I thought this thread was open to posts of differing opinion, I guess I'm wrong about that also, sorry. If you try real hard, you can loveand be devoted to something, but also have the ability to express your own opinion of where you feal its shortfalls are. You have that right.

Formula 1 2007
You should express how you feel about Formula 1, wish the constructive stuff would get to the powers that be. Formula 1 is no near as exciting as it use to be, there HAS TO BE PASSING on a larger scale!!! But on the other hand I still want to be able to see what is available, even if it is not as exciting as it use to be. And I like rallying, Superbike and Le Man. Never want to stop anyone from seeing the race series they enjoy.

I agree with Todd. And don't take what he says so hard guys. This isn't the first time this was brought up. In fact it has been the topic of some good discussions here... earlier on this thread as well as on the F1 2006 thread. Lots of hard core, sofisticated F1 fans have joked on this board about falling asleep during the races due to lack of actual wheel-to-wheel combat.

Do you get Moto GP coverage over there? If you want overtaking just watch, There all completly nuts! but opposite locking a bike at 160mph must take extraordernary skill.

We're good, Todd. We just have a different perspective, that's all. I like the relative lack of passing, as it makes it like a chess game, and then when something BIG happens, I jump out of the chair and damn near hit my head on the ceiling! I love that. It's kinda like watching a football match: Nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, then GOOOOAAAALLLLLL!!!!!! Same with a brilliantly executed pass in F1. Good stuff, that.
And speaking of Lewis Hamilton not talking to the press before the race, I figure they were just letting a newbie concentrate on the start of the biggest day of his life. I don't want to catch them doing that again, though. But I'll let it slide this first time. Cheers Todd,
David

Yeah... Hamilton probably needed some peace that week-end. I totally understand his request... as long as it does not continue to happen. That is one thing I like about Scott Speed... He is always available to talk and seemingly happy to do so.
As for a chess game... I think NASCAR is more of a chess game... the front runners constanly positioning themselves and watching the other guys, getting ready for the final pounce. Kind of like a Criterium or one day race in Bicycle racing. In F1, the only time you see something unexpected happen is if someone makes a huge mistake or has a mechanicle. Otherewise... for the most part they are pushing like crazy and where they stand is... well... were they stand.

Oh... I should add, Lately the only strategy is... Qualify well, Get a good start, and pit strategy. Otherewise... Push like hell! There was a time when you use to have to watch your tires, and if you were good with them, you could come on strong near the end of the race or pit less. You think for example that Fisi was strategizing while he was racing? No way! He had his foot to the floor driving as flawlessly as he could... doing everything he could to keep Massa behind him in the closing laps.

Hey Sprintn,
You've caught me being a total hypocrite! I used to love, I mean absolutely LOVE, when Schu used to "overtake in the pits". Man, how I'd laugh at the victim. And then last week it happend to Hamilton, with Alonso leapfrogging him. I was pissed! It hit me right at that moment..."Fair weather hypocrite you are, Teachey"......can't win 'em all.
That said, I can't wait until it's Lewie's turn to leapfrog Alonso from the pits. Or, until "Cute Little Brazillian In The Red Car" leapfrogs "Mumble-Mouthed-Male-Paris-Hilton In The Other Red Car" from the pits. I can't guarantee that either move will happen, but it doesn't hurt to hope! Come on the lads,
David
