Hi,
Just wanted to do a post to introduce myself. I have owned two Alfa's so far. A spyder and a GTV6. I still have the GTV6 and I am currently doing a full restore. Anyone that is interested can see my progress on the Alfagtv6.com BB site. It is under introductions under cchan. I am the original owner and purchased the car new.
Originally, I was going to just do the paint and interior. We have taken the interior apart and the engine has been removed. We have sanded the car to metal and it is now primed to be painted.
I was detailing the engine and decided to purchase a 3.0L 24L engine from Jungle Justice. He is helping me with a conversion and he said that it is a glenwood engine. I guess this is the best for the Alfa. IE: AMG to Mercedes & M to BMW. I am assuming Glenwood is to Alfa. Any comments? I hope to have the car painted in the next two weeks assuming we have enough time to work on it. I hope to have the engine installed by the end of the year.
I was wondering if there is anyone who has done this type of conversion before. If so did you just do the engine swap or more. I was contemplating updating the transaxle to a Modified Milano transaxle to fix the shifting problem and 2nd gear synch. Along with this I was thinking of updating the suspension and brakes as well.
This is far from what I first thought I was going to do which was to restore to factory original. I was just wondering what other Alfa fans do to their cars. Do people just restore to factory show condition or do the restore to new with modifications?
Thanks for looking a my GTV6 at the other website and giving me your input on my project.
