Alfa Giulia SCCA FProduction
I'm new to this forum, though it was suggested that I post here - post that I'm selling my FP Giulia.
Kind of ironic that I find this forum now that I'm parting with my racecar, but it simply must happen that way. The car is listed on eBay - the URL follows:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2446700609
I've been racing on and off in the midwest since '86. This was my first race car, and although I've had several periods where I didn't race for a year or two (or three), I've never been able to consider parting with it.
Unfortunately, last year it gathered dust once more, and with the demise of my business, I can't possibly hold onto it any more.
It's particularly frustrating that I get calls from guys who want to take it racing at tracks I'd have loved to race, and from people looking to take it to the Carrera, or to Europe.
Oh well, perhaps after a year or two I'll get back to owning another - but for now, take a look. But be careful - if you're anything like me, you might not be able to take your eyes off it.

If anyone is interested in this car, I'll be looking at it this coming Sunday... Probably shouldn't, as my wife has taken interest...

Thanks Simon!
But I guess I'm conflicted.
Good luck could mean either:
a) I sell it for a fair price or
b) No one buys it and I get to keep it.

I can see why Dorn is torn- he does not want to have to part with the car...
First, my disclaimer, I don't know the FP rules, and barely know the vintage rules since there are so many...
The car is a very legal FP car, and was last raced in Sept 02! Still has it's tech sticker on it. But from what little I know about FP, it's not overly prepared for the rules- the car still uses the stock suspenion arms, spindle, Girling disks in the front, and the welded rear has been converted to panhard rods with 2 lower and one upper trailing arms- using the original pick up points both on the car and the axle.
The major suspension change is that the front has been converted to coil overs with a new spring location. VERY easy to switch back for you vintage drivers! He's got all the original hardware to do it if you need to.
Don't know much about the engine, except that it's a 1300 with a single Weber, Veloce pan... Probably would be more than legal at any event...
The interior is basically a race car- full cage UPDATED to 2002 FP specs. Fire system, simple switch pack. Very cool, sat in it and fired it up, seems to run well (he thinks he's got 3 or 4 events on an 8 event engine, but he mentioned rebuilding the engine every 5 events). Fuel cell....
As seen in the pictures, the most radical parts of the car are the fender flairs. Knowing what is available for Sprints, neither would be a big deal to convert back to Stock form, but they are big enough to fit 8" slicks.
Lets say you wanted to make a street legal car, so one could run in Mexico... As far as I could tell, you need a more quiet exhaust and headlights. Everything else is there- think about it, old cars are simple.
Perhpas for a FP car, the price is reasonable, but for a vintage car, I think that might be low. I've seen ads for similar GTV's for $10 more...
I would get it, but my wife has decided to keep on track with what we have, my Jr and her Sprint.
If you have other questions, I'll do my best to answer them.
Oh, I saw no rust what so ever. I would think that is typical of a car that's been only a race car for 20+ years now. (yes, there is a log book- didn't look at it though)

A pleasure to have you visit. thanks for the review.
Just one correction - the engine is a 1600 Single downdraft.

Back on the market
After over a month anticipating and agonizing over its impending sale, the prospective buyer of the Alfa just backed away from the deal, so the car is once again available.
Get any extra Christmas money?
