Modifying rear spring mounts question

I'm planning on modifying my Spider's rear spring mounts to accept 5" adjustable springs. The plan is to modify an extra set of trailing arms to accept 5" springs and then weild in these adjustable bottom spring mounts from Performatek to them. Every thing was falling in place till I ran across this picture now I don't know if my top mount needs be changed to accept the 5" springs or if it they will fit?

Is this top seat the same on all Spider's?

Murray, the rear springs "seat" into a pressed metal "cup" on top. If you remove the seat and the rubber piece, I think you will find that a 5 inch spring (ground flat) will fit just fine.

can you fit those on top of the springs and save the trouble of modifiying the trailing arms? seems like those adjustable seats dont have any notches for a spanner wrench to change the ride height when the spring is under compression. How to do you adjust them without undoing the axle straps and releaving the spring force? It would save a little unsprung weight to boot...

Im interested in doing something with the rear end on my gtv also. I been kicking around the idea of putting a alfa 6 dedion axle in the back with the floating pumkin and using the stock 105 tranny. Hard to find any alfa six parts in the States unfortunatly...

Mount the adjustable bit to the chassis ... less unsprung weight that way .

BTW: Why not just convert the rear to use coil-over shocks?

Here's what I've got on my GTV. I forget what it cost, but wasn't much.
