Any high-speed track events at Pocono?

Are there ever any track time opportunities on the full 2.5 mile Tri-oval? All I’ve seen are road coarse events. Any other places near Washington DC?

Try Summit Point, it's not far from DC (less than an hour I think) http://www.summitpoint-raceway.com/ or, New Hamshire Raceway, a little further but it appears to be a good track http://www.nhis.com/

Summit has FAT Days

Summit has Friday At the Track days almost every week. Last year it was under $300.00. There is a morning class session, then you go on the track with instructors, Lunch and then 3 or 4 more Session, each about 20 minutes. It's a blast, just have good brake pads and be willing to listen to the instructor. Once he / they feel you are competant as a driver no more instructor with you on the track.

I rented a Mustang, full coverage! It was an autmatic but I was so busy remembering lines and apexes it made it easier for me to concentrate.

track time on the tri-oval

why would you want to take an underpowered (like even my '6) car into an environment where you'll loose what little advantage the Alfas have (namely the ability tocarry speed with us through and out of the truns, which is a great equalizer at tight, tecnical tracks like Lime Rock). You can't really compete with 350 horsepower

but if you must, try PDA (performance Drivers Association) at Pocono - they run counter(NASCAR) race on a portion of the front straight and use parts of the banking, as well as any of the many infield configurations.

you can see what they are about and register on-line at www.pdadrivingschool.com

PS I think you'll find the Glen or Summit Point much more fun than Pocono

I've driven Summit Point years ago when the had the Refrigerator Bowls but now I'd like to experience an event where I can go faster on the track than on the drive to it.
