What I wish I had

1950 Alfa Romeo 500 Race Car Transporter, used to take a AR F1 Alfetta 159 to and from the track in 1950-1951

Wouldn't that be a stylish way to show up at a vintage race

Then again there is the no trailer approach. In thirty to forty events I have never trailored to one. With the Alfa I can carry my suitcase for the weekend, helmet bag, driving suit and gear, tools, cleaning supplies, a couple folding chairs, EZ-Up, car cover, half a case of wine, and the driver. The Alfa has been pretty reliable, you would not want to do this with an English car. Cheers, George

You want to make sure you have great brakes on your tow rig and you still need to be very careful. Don't even think about going into the mountains! You should be able to find a good single-axle car trailer for less than $1000.

1 STAR - flat towing
2 STARS - single-axle open trailer
3 STARS - two-axle open trailer behind a pickup or big SUV
4 STARS - two-axle enclosed trailer behind a diesel
5 STARS - RV cab semi with 2 level enclosed trailer (Toter-Home)

I currently have a 3.5, a two-axle open trailer behind a crew cab diesel pickup. But I'm hoping for a 4 in the not-too-distant future! Sadly, the 5 will probably always be in my dreams.

If 5 STARS is "RV cab semi with 2 level enclosed trailer (Toter-Home)"
then what is this?

George,

I would love to see a picture of your SZ loaded up with all that stuff!

I guess that will have to be next spring. The Alfa hauls a lot more gear than the 166MM and it was fine for weekend events. - Geroge

Dan:
Here's a small trailer in SoCal (on the VARA website) that you might be able to make work, looks like a motivated seller as well
Good Luck

Towing package for sale

Check the FS threads for the description of the Winnebago and the Haulmark trailer. Or email me at alfaman@fidalgo.net and I'll send descriptions and additional photos.

Thanks, George 360-293-5475
