Harnesses
Without seeing the saftey seat hooks you are talking about, I couldn't tell you. It sounds like they should be fine, so see if it passes tech. The sub belt really should be bolted to the floor, but if this is a one-shot deal for the harnesses, you "might" be able to get away with hooking it up to the seat for the school. No guarantees, and definately a no-no for a regular time trial. Ask Paul Ellis or Paul Blankenship. They are both listed on all of our literature.
You will want to get your car teched ahead of time. It saves so much headache, and lets you focus on what you came to the school to do--drive. There is nothing worse than scrambling thru late-tech at the track (which also costs a lot) when you could be either walking the track, or riding with an instructor slowly (all you have to do is ask-but nobody ever does). It's called a "station wagon tour" and is another huge advantage.
You are right, the lapping session is usually a half hour. I am not telling which way around the track we will be going, or which configuration, either........The racers used the whole track (including the new "back loop") and went the oppisite direction last school.
Oh, and if Joel lets me drive the 360GT, it will be the 4th time I have driven it. I drove it for 2 full practice sessions at the last time trial. Paddle shifters were impressive, as were the 450 ponies. And the brakes....and the sound....and the.........1:27 laps!
Joel has been doing the Ferrari Challenge series, and did quite well last season. 2nd place in his first race! He even went to the championships in Italy last year, and finished in the lead pack. He was my Intro Group student 5 years ago. He invited me to drive it again at Sears Point on Tues -Wed following the school, where Ferrari Challenge will be having an open test session. Can't wait!! I live 3 miles from Sears Point.

oooooo, I need to get a set of harnesses before I go.
Any recommendations for good quality and priced harnesses?
Where can I buy a fire ext? Or I can take one from a apartment building but those are huge.

These guys are in LA, and they are great. Simpson does not re-web, but Diest does. That's important. Do yourself a favor and get the 3 inch shoulder harnesses (they also offer 2 inch). Some clubs require 3 inch, and you need 3 inch for race group. They are more comfortable, too.

We will definitely tech before hand, I'm very happy that you guys finally got some new tech people down here. For a while after Gerry Lehman stopped doing tech there wasn't any place down here close enough... but now there are a couple.
We ran the back loop in the lapping session last time and it was great! The banking was a lot of fun, the only bad part was that the sun was so low by the time we got out there it was very hard to see in a lot of places.
Good luck with that Ferrari you lucky, lucky man!

Tech
Since you say you were getting teched by Gerry Lehman, I take it that you are in the San Diego area. I, too once got teched by Gerry. Very thorough!
Go see Danny Wells at Foreign Auto Menders in Poway. Bring him a 6 pack of O' Douls (he likes cans) and I doubt he would charge you. Tell him I sent you, too. We built my GTV in his shop. There is a picture of it above the cash register. I don't know if he has tech sheets on hand, so print one off of the arosc.org site. Also, remind him that I am still a MUCH better guitarist than him!
Say hi to his wife, Arlyce for me, too. I miss that shop........

Yep, I'm here in beautiful San Diego... the only downside is that the good tracks are all far away! Gerry is a great guy and very knowledgable... it's too bad he's not doing tech any more, I miss hanging out and shooting the breeze afterwards.
This wouldn't be the first time I've paid Danny with a 6-pack of O'Douls I've seen that picture of the GTV above the register, but I didn't know it was yours. Danny and I have had our differences in the past, but he is a good guy and knows his stuff. I wonder how he would feel about teching non-Alfas (The Milano is disassembled so we'll be bringin the WRX and SVT Focus this time). I'll remind him about the guitar thing... haha.

Danny Wells is a good guy.
I too have had "differecnces" with him (lots of them), but I think that's just part of getting to know him. He does love Alfas, and he has a good shop. You just have to understand what makes him tick. Once you are "in", his shop is your shop. He sponsored my race efforts for years, and I would have never been able to do the racing I have done without his generous support.
And I'm still a better guitarist!

I was playing with a satellite photo program (Earthviewer 3D NVIDIA... VERY cool!) and I bookmarked all the major tracks in the US. So I thought I'd post a picture of the Streets of Willow just because

That's so crazy! Where did you get that program from and how does it exactly work? Internet connection? Explain.

schedule
That schedule may not be entirely accurate. Since we have 25 cars in RACE SCHOOL, it looks like the 3 groups will be 1. Street Performance, 2. Time Trail (both advanced and beginning together) and 3. Race
We'l have to see where things shake out.
Also, I will be leading a walk around the track at 7 or 7:15 for anyone interested.

So does that mean we are going to get less track time? How many are signed up for TT & adv TT? Is the group still going to be split into two 30 min group when we're on the track or are there too many cars to do that?
What time does the track open in the morning? Walking the track sounds interesting. I'll try to drag my butt out of bed earlier to get there in time for the walk.

Track time
No, you will still get the same amount of track time. No worries......We are even making efforts to "spice up" the track portion, too.
The track should be open early. If it is not, just go in thru the big track entrance. There is an access road that goes behind the wall at turn 9. Make sure you tell them that you are going to the Streets, in case they have some additional gate fee for the big track, or something. I am not sure if they will be charging us to get inyto the Streets or not.
We'll start walking shortly after 7. The walk should take 20 minutes or so. The desert is always gorgeous that time of the morning anyways (praying for good weather...)

Will I be sleeping with coyotes?
Does anyone know if there will be people overnighting on the Small track (streets) part of Willow?
I want to bring a tent and sleep out on the track, is that allowed? Will people be overnighting on the track?
If there will be overnighters, I know everyone is going to be in Trailers, RV's and hotels, and I will be the werid kid in a Tent. But that's okay, as long as I'm not solo, or I will have to drive back to L.A. and sleep at home.
