Azzurri,
Williams is now powered by Cosworth, Red Bull is powered by Ferrari, Toro Rosso is powered by Cosworth, Midland is powered by Toyota and Super Aguri is powered by Honda.
BMW wanted to field a factory team, so they bought Sauber, but they kept "Sauber" in the team name as a way of honoring the team members. This left Willams in the lurch, until Frank & Co hooked up with Cosworth.

And at the other end is Toyota's total failure. BMW and Aguri have excuses for being so pathetic, but Toyota is at a complete loss to explain what happened. Their cars finished 14th and 16th, and a Toyota powered Midland finished one place behind in 17th. Only Sato, F1's very own kitty litter king, finished in their wake.
Who wants to bet that Gascoyne will be teaching physics at some high school in the middle of Nebraska by this time next month?

That's right Desert Tortoise,
I'm sure the Toyota top brass are considering reviving seppuku as an early-retirement option for the heads of the F1 program! This just proves that from '00 to '05, Ferrari's huge budget was partnered by huge talent...seems Toyota only has half of that equation at the moment. They'll learn, though. Mark my words...they'll learn. Then they'll be a force to be reckoned with.

I think Toyota needs to get rid of the overly paid, overly rated Ralph, and bring in a driver that knows how to develop a car and comunicate with his engineers.. IMHO The current situation is not money well spent.

If Schumi retires after this year i love love to see Fisichella or Trulli behind the wheel. It has been way to long that ferrari hasn't had a Italian driver.

Kimi to Ferrari and Alonzo to McLaren in '07. That's just my opinion, but I could be wrong.

Sprintn,
You're absolutely right. Remember Ferrari and M. Schumacher about 8 years ago? THAT is what Toyota will hope to re-live.

I think the problem is that there just aren't that many drivers who can give the engineers the feedback that they need to develop the car. JV failed miserably at BAR, and everything I have read seems to indicate that neither Kimi nor JPM, Alonso, or Button are particularly helpful. I think drivers like Schumacher, who can really work with the engineers and develop a car, are very rare. I also wonder how long Toyota can stay the course with the spending levels it has. The Japanese are known for commitment but at some point the board has to question the expenditure/return.

Montoya has a lot of experience from working with engineers from his Champ Car days. F1 is much more devolopment orientated than setup orientated (like CCWS)

Perhaps Fisi should go to Toyota once the year's over - he'd be cheap enough and he's certainly talented and experienced. I agree that Ralf is just a pain in the *** with no real speed - I was quite shocked when he was given a contract with Williams back in 1999.
On another more interesting note M.Schumi has definitely signed on for 2007 with Ferrari after being impressed with the 248 in Bahrain. With Kimi out of contract this makes for an interesting silly season this year - there is much talk of Ferrari attempting to create a super team, although somehow I dont think kimi would fit in at the scuderia - his attitude seems to fit with mac and ron dennis slightly better.

py105,
I'm glad you said that about Kimi! I'm a big Kimi fan (i'm more of a drivers fan than a constructors fan) and I can't see him going to Ferarri.

Spoiler!!
Fisi on pole in a Renault, with the Williams BMWs also at the front in qualifying. The Ferraris are near the rear of the grid. Looks to be a great race and a great season..

Schumacher qualified fourth fastest but he faces a 10 places penalty due to engine change.Massa will start 22nd as he had two engine changes.Williams Cosworth's Roseberg is third and Webber fifth.

On the driver issues, I am not aware that Ferrari have confirmed their lineup. Massa is on a 1 year deal and Schumacher is yet to commit. It does seem likely that Raikonnen will be heading there. Fisichella may struggle to keep his seat at Renault and be replaced by their current test driver with maybe Montoya comming depending on how the Mclaren/Raikonnen and Ferrari/Schumacher relationships go.
