3 Wheeling Alfetta GT
Had to post this from Willow Springs last weekend.
The '76 Alfetta at the top of Turn 4, under power, just before you let off to rotate the car and head back down the hill.
WOW. Stock suspension and street yokos.
With better resolution I think there MAY be a little light under the right rear wheel also.
FYI, I also put on my 1 year old worn out Kuhmo Vicroracers for 1 session. The tires were worth about 2 seconds: 1:58 vs 1:56. Not bad.
Congrats to Norm and his TI. He was only about 1 sec behind me. He was about 3 seconds before. Great improvement. Now I gotta find better ways to cheat to keep ahead of him at the next event.

How my car is built, if I went around that same bend 2 wheels would come off the tarmac. I have a fully welded roll cage. This means the chassis and rooll cage are one. Stiff I tell ya!

I baught the car ready to race. All it needs is more power down the straight. besides that, it's a great handling car.
The car was looked over and tweeked by Randel Perkins an Australian Racing Icon here in Australia.

Gee passenger seat installation leaves a bit to be desired ... ?
I'm not sure chassis stiffness has anything directly to do with lifting wheels, though ... more the grip and suspension compression it can generate at the opposite end.
Nice race car though, AND importantly nice photo sidewaysalfa.

Yeah I know it's in a bit of disarray inside. Give me a few weeks.
Well I do have Bilsteins in all 4 corners and they are quite stiff. Well see. Maybe in December. HSV club have a meet at Oran Park. I might get in.

Randall Perkins seem to be the topdogs when it comes to making transaxle cars handle on the track and on the road. My dads GTV6 has the street package.. its pretty stiff but not too bad and it handles well, good turn in. Is it running a 3L ?
Definately go the bilsteins IMO.

Yes, I'm looking for a 3Litre or a 3.2 Litre engine second hand.

The green car is growing to become a "Renaissance Alfa".
OK enough to do time trials 1 weekend, and then reliable enough to do a 2 day wine tour the next weekend.
So, I am debating how much stiff suspension stuff to put on it, remembering that my wife and I will be driving it for a bunch of hours in the Calif wine country.
So, it gets a nice sound system, street exhaust, and street tires, comfortable Recaro seats (from GTV6 doner).

If it already has a 2.5... i would get a 3.1 piston/liner set from South Africa or Europe

Interesting. Tell me more......
This would mean the car would need to be in the mechanic. I really would prefer a separate engine.

I've heard of (but not seen) GTV6s with enough cornering ability and enough body flex to flake the paint off so I suspect chassis stiffness affects suspension geometry at some point. BTW, this is an over-simplification, but while Ackerman steering works perfectly at a 0-g turn, anti-Ackerman works better at high g loading because the outside tire gets more loading as Pete points out, but Ackerman/anti-Ackerman is pointless when the inside tire lifts.

I understand that the GTV6 without sunroof was a little more stiff. I have had both and feel only a slight difference, but didn't think any paint was being flaked off Then again, I never drove the gtv6's as hard as i drove the 164.
