When my dad and i went GTV6 hunting a couple months ago, pretty much all of them had stress cracks at the bottom of the front screen pillar and the front where the guard joins the front upper 'valance'. None of them were flaking paint, but if it was a real crap paint job i wouldnt have been surprised!

Barbalatte > Are you after a 12v or 24v?
It's unlikely you will find a standard 3L 12v in Australia let alone a 3.2 that someone has already built! And if you did i wouldnt want to drop it in the car without a basic rebuild. If your motor is in good condition, the cheapest way would be to get these pistons/liners.
Last time i saw a 12v 3L for sale they wanted $3000! What a joke. And then a basic rebuild on top of that at least $$$ I'm not sure what a modern Alfa 3L 24V would sell for.. more than that figure. A GTA motor... that would be ultimate but $$$$$$$$$$$$$$

What sort of reliable power do you want in the end?

How much track time to you have?

If you are relatively new to the track, then I seriously suggest you leave the current engine in it and learn how to get the absolute max from the current package, ie. I'm saying it is better to start with less power and learn to DRIVE.

I've watched many people make complete d!cks of themselves by going for too much power before they can drive ... looks really funny when a bog standard Sud (for example) with a real driver out performs them , especially after all the HP talk pre-track day

Standard (or near standard like your car, cage and good shocks, etc.) Alfa Romeos (that are in really good condition) track really well ...
Pete
ps: Chasing big HP just means more $'s and less track fun (more rebuilds).

Well I'd say I've been around.
I out paced and beat all the cars in my category including a Porche 944 Race car. I had standard worn road tyres, they all had race tyres. 55 flat around Oran Park South. Is that quick?

No reason why a well sorted GTV6 with a 3L could beat that :P

About chassis rigidity...

You can improve handling by strengthening the chassis. If the Alfetta has a weak chassis it is
easy to flex and twist under force. If you would mount stiff springs/tick anti roll bar inregularities
in the road will be transfered to the chassis directly. Weak chassis will bent and geometry will
be reshaped creating all kinds of negative effects such as non neutral steering. If you do have a weak chassis keep the softer springs and shocks if you intend to also drive it on the road.
You need a rigid chassis which could cope with the stiff suspensions without flex or twist.
You could opt for a fractionally stiffer anti roll bar (not race!!!) at the front.

Don't make a racer out of your car if you only occasionally drive on the track. Just have fun.

IMHO it is more a question of weight transfer

Thankls for concern Enrico.
My GTV6 is purley a race car. I purchased it ready to race. Like I said before, It needs a little more power for my liking. My 147 GTA is for the road and miss daisy driving.....Not.
