Flea bay race cars

Opinions on the race cars listed on E-bay? One is Bobcor, and one looks like one offered here a while back, built by Italcarguy's shop. (At least the motor).

The one from Bobcor used to be a So.Cal car belonging to David Wall from San Diego. WHen it was here, it was a well sorted car. Looks to be the same excpet for BOBCOR paint scheme. I don't know what his reserve is but it's listed on their site for $65K

We built the motor and did some suspension on the red car. I believe it has one "break in" weekend on the motor. It still needs to be dynoed. It has to run on race gas because of the 12:1 JE pistons. It was a "no budget" motor. It has the best of everything. We put Shankle springs on it along with Koni shocks and a Shankle sway bar. For the suspension upgrades to be done, it needs a panhard rod and a LSD. It currently has a stock trans that needs to be rebuilt or replaced with a close ratio box. The also has a stock gas tank and fire extinguisher, not a fire system. Right now it's sorta in between street car and race car. The owner lost interest. His intentions were to finish off the stuff that I said should be done.

Hope this helps.

Anthony,
Thanks for the insight. I'm trying to convince the wife that I would stop riding motocross....if I had a racecar! I'm wondering if either car would be considered Svra legal with a 2 liter? I'll have to do some research, and check another related thread here about the groups and what's allowed. I doubt the cars would be Csrg legal with a 2 liter. Do you have any input on the red cars overall condition as to body (rust).

SVRA is back east and I see your location as CA? I believe they do allow 2 liters in SVRA, but I'd check with them.

A side note observation- the car is painted like one of Bobcor's former race cars, and it is NOT that car. So buyer beware.

Oh, and check the SVRA discussion on the "which group to associate..." thread. We talk about it some, but basically, the 2.0 would run in one of the group 8 classes, while a 1750 *could* run in group 3.

Cool discussion with Peter and Anthony over there.

Eric

Bobcor Car

I've always wanted a car that could be both right-drive and left-drive. It would certainly help setup for different tracks! Take a look at the pictures.

The pic of the RHD lifting its wheel at Road Atlanta is a RHD GTA. The car for sale is LHD and probably steel bodied.

That pic is perhaps a doctored version of the BOBCOR poster, copyrighted by oxman in 1973. The poster was sold by Bobcor in that era and the original poster showed the sister LHD GTA #52 as well. Also the Champion sign was in a different location in the poster.
