For what its worth, we ran Hoosier Street TDs 205/60 14 on our Torana GTR XU1 (not that this will mean much to those outside Australia - google it if interested) and replaced them with Toyo RA1 205/55 14 (radials).
It was about 1 to 1.5 seconds per lap faster on the Toyos (on a 1.2km circuit), but required an increase in camber from -1 to -4.5. I preferred driving on the Toyos, due to consistency of feedback. The Hoosiers didn't seem to 'hook-up' and were always sliding - like driving on a slightly wet track (which was fun, but frustrating when chasing time).
I'm not sure we ever got the best out of them though, because some very fast cars are using them and people who should know swear by them. Maybe they didn't suit the Torana (which is a bit of a 'blunt instrument' - could be different on an Alfa. Never got round to trying them on mine).
In the end it was an easy choice - the Toyos are only about 2/3 the price per tyre and we get more speed and life from them.
