Racing brake pads
Finally used up the last of my supply of Ferodo DS11 brake pads for our Lemons cars. Looking to see what other people are using for track pads and how many hours do you get from a set of pads. The cars runs the stock calipers.

Ferodo DS2500. Even usable on the road. Done over 1000 km of special stages on rallies. pads about half worn. Good value for money.

Using RayBestos ST43 on front Wilwood Dynapro "Girodisc" slotted floating disc rotors.
Ferodo DS2500 on rear with Girodisc vented sloted floating disc rotors using a stock calipers with sz spacer.
Both bed-in quickly and are predictable.
Got about 500 miles on the last set for only trackday conditions. (10% wetdays) My guess is that racing conditions would be about 30% less.

I've had good luck with the KFP blue compound, they are carbon Kevlar, I use them on the street, but work well on the track. If the Blue compound isn't quite enough, the Gold compound is the full track compound. I've turned my rotors blue with the blue compound and still had some hint of brake left (admittedly not much however.) The pads are easy on rotors as well.

In my case, I was on the street stuck behind a truck who was crawling down a rather steep twisty road (like 5mph crawling.) He was engine braking (diesel) and his brakes were smoking at the bottom. There was no room to go around either. I stopped at the bottom just to see if I could, and got out to look at the brakes, and they were so hot the wheels were hot to the touch. I only stopped for a moment to jump out walk around the car and took off again, the brakes were back in a block after that.

DS2500 are good and Mintex 1144 are also OK for fast-road & track use. I use Mintex 1155 for racing that are fine but I'd like to use DS3000. I stick with DS2500 on the rear because the rears don't really do much braking on a 105 Coupe driven really hard.

I use the Ferodo DS3000 at the track. They are easy on the rotors and come in quickly on the pace lap. I am using Motul 600 and have never boiled the fluid. I was thinking I could get away with the DS2500 but wanted to take rotor temps first. Since the DS3000 is working fine I haven't revisited the issue. BTW has anyone taken rotor temps at a hard braking track with the solid rotor set up?

Brake Pads
These cars never see the street except for a quick blast around the block before we load them to take them to the track. Our biggest issue is how long do the pads last. A normal event weekend is 14 hours over two days and at the cost of the quality pads it would be nice if they would last for the whole weekend.

ran ds2500 on my gtv6 for sprints and it pulled up OK but when I checked the pads they were all crumbly around the edges - over temp perhaps? So maybe 3000's are the go (but it is a 1200kg car with small brakes - a 105 prob wouldn't have the same prob)

I've noticed this happening with quite a few cars I've worked on but it doesn't seem to effect pad performance, or get any worse to a point where safety would be a problem. It just looks a bit ugly.

yeah, was a bit concerning so I put some stock pads back in - no where near the bite of the ferodos!

You may want to look at the Carbotech XP ( Carbotech Performance Brakes) series as they are very effective and easy on rotors. Call Danny Puskar at CarboTech.

I have run the Carbotech pads on my McLaren with some success. The Xp-9 lasts a long time and has reasonable bite. I replaced them at the last race with DS-3000 and like the better bite of the DS 3000 pad.
