Watkins Glen Trailer Needed!

I was (or am, Lord willing) leaving for Watkins Glen this weekend for the Zippo Vintage races when my towing arrangements with a friend fell victim to his hospitalization yesterday. I need to come up with a small light trailer for my 2000 pound Alfa GTV, as my regular 18' tandem rig is too heavy to pull with my wife's Dodge Caravan (I promise to tell her soon )
Does anyone in Southern California have something in a small, light, single axle car hauler I can rent, maybe even buy if necessary, as I am in a crisis mode. Would be back 15th or 16th.
Anyone want to go along and share driving? Almost 60 Alfas entered (featured marque), last year's total entry was over 550 cars. www.svra.com http://www.alfasattheglen.com/

Come on, somebody help. We want Wil to make it to the Glen. If you have a way to get to Chicago, I have a small single-axle trailer that I have hauled my street GTV on a few times. You are welcome to it for the portion from Chicago on, although I know that might not help much!

I'd be happy to let you use mine... but by the time you got here, you'd be 4/5 the way to New York...

Take a southern route, Will. Your caravan has more power than an old F150 5.0 that could tow that....

Wil, maybe a last resort. But U-Haul rents the small trailers that only carry one end of the car. You could disconnect the driveshaft, put street tires on the rear and go cross country pretty easily. I hauled a GTV several hundred miles that way once and it towed just fine.

Just a thought!

Erik:
As you were posting, I was on the phone with a wonderful VARA member who just offered me his trailer! Picking it up Saturday morning, loading out, and should be on the road solo by that evening or early Sunday morning. Giulia on the chassis dyno today, cured some problems, so I have confirmed my rebuilt engine runs. Car's not as finished as I would like, but we're on the way.
Thanks to you and Eric for cheering me on...
Wil

Have a safe trip, Wil. I'm leaving from Chicago about noon Tuesday. Maybe I'll see you on the Interstate!
