Glad to hear it!!
Anthony really disappointed me when he made a comment a while back about enjoying NASCRAP!! And then this....I thought WOW!! He gets to race sooooo much and goes and does a stunt like this and on top of it he admits he actually likes watching big ol' crapwagons go round and round....

ha ha ha, stay tuned for more pranks, although i have been known to travel at those speeds in the past in the early morning hours.
after this weekend, i have been exposed to all racing within three days. hey, i did all three. friday night at lacr drag strip with the ZO6, and sunday on ca speedway's banked oval as well as the road course again with the Z06.
you bet i will be at the drag strip again (with my truck), both nascar races at ca speedway next season, and a whole assortment of vintage races next year.

See, 3 days of racing this last weekend. I assume 2 days this weekend Lucky dog.
Again sorry to hear about your desire to attend NASCRAP races.
Have you been to Perris to catch a Sprint Car or WoO race? Now that's a great show!

Wow You had me thinking
181 + on the road at 4oooRPMS sounded to fast, but new cars are somthing.
I would love to know what in the heck one can do 180 in on public roads around these parts?
Anthony, I am with you on racing anything. I still racer my 55chevy A/gasser that was my 1st car 7 years before my 1st Alfa. I 1st raced it in1970, Lic plates WILD 55 incase any boby remembers it. then in about 74 I did all the spring rates and it was 3040Lbs wet and I could blow off Shellbies at the autoXs at Pleasantin.
My be I will post a photo some day. It is set up a lot like my Sprint same rolle bar stile etc.
What the heack did that Zo6 run at the drag strip? and I hope you got my post about you and your car in Vintage Mag.
My feeling were reeling about the speed you guys fulled us with. I didnt know if I was jeaous, or woundered how in the heck you worked your way up there safly or what. Now that it is a joke Am I releaved or saddened, 1 of the posters here somes it up with a saying "its a fine line etc"
I have a very tragic storie about a Zo6 and a Stupid Mustang.
I know all 4 people in both cars, 3 of them I have known for over 25 years. all very good (fast) drivers with a lot of talent 2 of with have raced well in the Nationels inyears past. Any way june 27th 2003 Bear Creek road. Very high speed with big banked turns up to 130 MPH in some places. In the 1970 we would set up street races there and block all on coming cars and have a race with trofies and all. I still have a few. any way one freind got a new cobra and we were all at the wall ( the spot were the photo of my Sprint is in photos) and these guys went off and raced like we were dumb kids again, but this time Will ( who is one of the all time Great Motor Cycle racer, trials, tract and stunts, was going for the pass on the inside in the triple digits and hit a little dip in the road and the Vett was off and flying in to a tree, very said to say Will passed away asap. But the passinger wild Lenny was wereing his helmit and full racer stuff and is OK broken arm and some ribs. we all Lost a good guy. but thay shoyuld not have done what thay did. But as you can tell by some of my posts form 4th july and Alaska that we have some nice roads up north here, and even us old timers can kick it sometimes..
Now I still want to know what the times were and with all the cool Alfas you and your family have had, what the heck kind of car have you gone 180+ in?

peter,
it was our first time out to a dragstrip. richard's best was a 13.1. the damn wheels on that car just spin when you launch it. after a few more times there, i am sure he can get it in the 12's where the car should be. like all things, practice makes perfect.
that sucks about your friends. if i am gonna go fast, i am gonna make sure there is nobody around and that it is in a straight line. too risky to go fast around corners with cliffs and trees everywhere.
i still have not gotten that vintage magazine with me in it. i can't find it anywhere! anyone have a copy i could have? i didn't go that fast in an alfa, the fastest i have been able to get my milano verde was 140 mph (probably 135 since the speedo is usally about 5mph off)...there were three. however, i did do 170 mph in a 550 maranello and a porsche 911 turbo on the freeway by my house late late late one night.

Thanks for the replie. You gotta get the mag. its a big full half page photo of you 2 (car and you)
Wow what a sound getting up tob speed in a 550!!!!!! and what speed to!!!!
The Vett is amazing to do time like that .and the way thay can spin those big fat tires. and all stock.
back when thay made the 4cam vett a few years ago (10) how did 10 years get by so fast, Any way I saw one spin out in front of me at the track, he put it in reverce and it spun 20 in. X2=40in. of race rubber with no problem in reverse with no drama. wow what a car. After thaty i allways wanted one. I almost bought 1, 2 times, but as i sat in them the seats and the GM switchs on the dash were all just to GM feeling.
I should see what the new ones are like now. But I will have to wait 10 years before I can get one.
Happy Racing
Peter

Wow. That's faster than I've ever driven.....
Wow. 3 miles per minute, 1/4 mile in 5 seconds.
That had to have been fun. Careful out there!
