This swedish Giulia was having trouble with the brakes. At this picture they were venting them - one guy at the pedal, one at the valve - the conversation (in swedish) sounded something like this: "press! - lift! - more pressure! - let off! - press! - lift! - feels better now?" sounded funny from a distance.....

Video of the best action at CHGP now available here (2 mb) Damn shame, that Austin was really nice and ran at Goodwood last year - now totalled.

This accident happened during practice - thats why slow and fast cars were all together. Still, the organizer often have to mix them, since there arent too many doing historic racing here in Denmark, and they have to collect all the cars they can in order to put a heat together. Th accident is obviously the fault of the mini driver, whos brakes locked. Anyhow, it shows how fast things can go terribly wrong, even though you drive carefully. And no insurance!

Excellent footage! You couldn't have planned that any better.
Obviously the fault of the mini driver?? I was thinking that it was the Austin driver's fault. He was slower on the outside and cut in on the turn. To me it looked like he cut off the faster Mini on the inside.
Then again, I'm no racer.

Well, I'm not either (yet!) - but it seems to me, the minis brakes locked way before the turn. Okay, maybe the Austins driver should have seen this in his mirror before turning in? I guess the fault lies on the slower driver, as he MUST yield when being lapped. BUT: the marshall also MUST advice him that he is being overtaken (blue flag) which they obviously arent doing here. So, how do you both keep an eye on the marshalls AND in the mirror?! BUT: when you are going so much slower as the Austin is, I guess you ought to check the mirrors - and obviously he didnt. BUT then again: the Mini is going way too fast and totally blocking his brakes, I guess this boils down to what you call a "race incident" - sh*t happens. You may be right.

Yup, the 'stang would probably have been harder on the Austin than the concrete block! It is very predictable though, brakes every time, wins every time.

Hey, that Giulia is owned by one of my garage mates.
The rules force them to use the original brakes which I'm told needs constant adjusting to work properly, Dunlop brakes??
I saw it run at Knutstorp earlier this year and it was really unstable when braking at the end of the start/finish straight.

Sounds odd - Mintex or ACB Green Stuff kevlar brake pads ought to do the job. (and are allowed too)
Another pic of your friends car:
