it is definately an intresting 2nd half to the season. when was the last time that a race would start and we had no idea of who might win? one of two Red Bulls? Hamilton? One of two Brawns? Not to mentions a wild card here and there!

So as next year rolls around.. No Fuel Stops but Tire Stops with same tire rules? Will the cars have Bigger fuel tanks, and will they exchange fuel tanks for different tracks? Then the possibility of running out of fuel is big. Then it is sort of pointless that qualifying will be on the lightest fuel load possible yet we start the race on full tanks and
gradually run to the last few laps of light loads. Heavy fuel loads having some effect on tire choices also. And whats the rules on Kers next year...everybody gotta have it?
3 new teams and then BMW on the block. Should be lots of driver slots open.
Now we need an American Race circuit.

Well... all through the late eighties and nineties the drivers qualified in race trim and low fuel and it was all pretty cool. Then they loaded up the fuel tanks for the race because their was no refueling... this also was pretty cool. the races were not a matter of fuel strategy... but of how quick a driver and his car were. This was a time when a driver had to be good with their tires. I am actually looking forward to the lack of refueling strategy and a return to racing.

Remember just a little while ago they actually used qualifying engines and then switched to race engines.

I always thought it was pretty awesome to see waht a driver and car could do around a track in pure qualifying trim.

Gee-whiz, if they don't have to employ "fuel strategies" does that mean they'll actually have to pass-each-other on the track???! My oh my!

Regards.

So, can anyone here recall the last time there was a 'real' pass-for-the-lead of a GP?

Regards.

That was true in Indy cars, too. At least it was in the 80's, maybe still is. I lived in Midland TX in the 80's and the guys at Race Engine Services and VDS called them "hand grenade engines".

Not off hand, but if it did happen it was probably in the first turn.

You question did remind me of this one.Like all great plays in sporting events Even though you have all seen it many times, you just can't get enough of it.

Should be a very interesting race.

Anything to the rumours of Fisichella taking Luca Badoer seat in Massas Ferrari ?

Should be an interesting START! Rubens on the second row, I think by the end of the first lap he will have moved ahead of Heifeld and Trulli and Fisichella will be running light, so he will pit early. Button said in his interview with Peter Windsor that he just can't get a handle on his car, so he will not be a threat.
