help me out guys i think im missing something. they say the cars can go about 33 to 35 laps on a tank of fuel. according to my account, she went 43 laps. Dan Weldon ran out of gas after the finish, even though he pitted way after she did. they say a car uses a gallon per lap.

congrats to dan wheldon and andretti green. im so happy for them. i dont hate patrick, i wish her well actually, but taking out schekter does put her on my bad list.

Nothing like an oval race to put a person to sleep. Sorry for all you hillbillies who like this stuff or even call it a race. There is one thing that I dislike more when they race trucks. Farmer Billy Bob and his wife/cousin love this stuff.....

A Few Short Red Neck Jokes:
How do you know when you're staying in a Kentucky hotel? When you call the front desk and say "I've got a leak in my sink," and the person at the front desk says, "Go ahead."
An Arkansas State trooper pulls over a pickup truck on I-40 and says to the driver, "Got any ID?" The driver says, "'Bout what?"

Two Mississippians are walking toward each other, and one is carrying a sack. When they meet, one says, "Hey Tommy Ray, whatcha got in th' bag?" "Jes' some chickens." "If I guesses how many they is, kin I have one?" "Shoot, if ya guesses right, I'll give you both of 'em!" "OK. Ummmmm...five?"

Ida Mae passed away and Bubba called 911. The 911-operator told Bubba that she would send someone out right away. "Where do you live?" asked the operator. Bubba replied, "At the end of Eucalyptus Drive." The operator asked, "Can you spell that for me?" After a long pause, Bubba said, "How 'bout I drag her over to Oak Street and you pick her up there?"

Rally or F1 or Any other racing touring cars on anything but an oval is fine with me.

CART's race contracts call for 18 cars or they don't collect sanction fees/ race doesn't run. 2 WEEKS before Long Beach last year he withdrew from CART. Leaving the field with 17 cars. This was 2 weeks after unvieling his car and driver at a major press conference in California as well. Moreover he claimed that was a sponsor decision. Within days the sponsors on the #9 car moved with the driver to RuSport. This was a fully funded car, btw. Rahal almost killed CART just because Honda wrote him a huge check.
And this differs from Roger Penske just how?

I think Kenny Brack is all of 135 pounds soaking wet and Dan Weldon isn't much heavier. If IRL wants to make a rule that the drivers must weigh a certain weight or have pounds added that's fine with me, but they don't and rules is rules. Get over it Robby G.

Danica made a good showing for herself today. She is a rookie and I think by definition it means she is still learning. With the possible exception of Jim Clark I don't know how many other "rookies" could drive with no errors in their first Indy 500.

I think you give too much credit to the IRL and Danica's "PR machine." This is the kind of story our national press love. ABC and the syndicate newspapers are the ones hyping her. Why? Because it is the kind of reality TV, human interest, woman vs. man, young girl does good, glass ceiling B.S. they love. This his how they sell papers and airtime. If you think its over after the race, just wait. She will be on 20/20 and every talk show on TV. Is she to blame? Hell no! Its business. Publicity generates sponsors and sponsors bring money. If she doesn't capitalize on it she would be very, very foolish.

I am coming sooo late to this party and am so out of my league, but absolutely loved Danica's quite matter-of-fact comments that she surprised herself on being able to work through traffic better than she expected, but that she also made some very rookie like mistakes (which she undoubtedly did).

As I recall, some years ago at Indy there was a Guy (you know, the ones with an outy rather than an inny) who spun on the straight and still won. Surely it must have been a fix / set-up to get more publicity for him and his team.

Biba

Whilst not appropriate here, but personally would love to see it come down between Condoleezza Rice and Hillary Clinton in the next presidential election. Since it's the day before Memorial Day, I'll be fully expecting "Incoming!!!".

Does she have big hooters that hinder her driving? Like lesbian golfers? Kidding more power to them. Hope she does well....

How does Danica get to wreck the field on a caution lap and not be penalised? Then she somehow gets to 1st.

Danica is the only hope for that series.

Danica Patrick is the biggest farce since Sarah Fisher just this time she has a good team and Honda backing her. She couldn't even beat the under budget Atlantic teams.

AND?

Wow, what a revelation, politics in racing! I can't belive its true...

Lets see- Ferrari wins everything, so we have to keep them happy. DEI was the Hero's team, and they win at Talledaga and Daytona. And somehow Newman Haas keeps winning.... Nothing is ever overlooked....

Duh, of course its all about money, gotta keep everyone happy, and try to keep the odd guys out. And now that Ms Partick is a good marketing tool, we all wish her to loose? Wow, some of you are amazing.

I saw her make one big mistake, and one smaller one. Somehow, she managed to both finish the race, even in the top 5. So she took out Schekter, it happens, and she got lucky. Didn't let any of this phase her too much- I thought she drove a solid race but for the one spin.

I'd be far more angry if any of the Foyt team could compete- those guys are real loosers. that would be a real fix to get familiar names.

The only real problem with the race was the overwhelming coverage of Danica, and we lost what happened to most everyone else. That's not her fault, but ABC's and the IRL.
