Speed Vision

Man oh Man!

I can't begin to tell you all what a treat it was to be at the in-laws house over the holiday. Not only was I feed till I was bulging but my father in-law has the killer satellite/cable set up. All I did was watch Speed Vision the whole time (I only have basic cable). I was so pleased to see a race that was a GT5 class and a driver by the name of Jay Iliohan won 3rd place in a bad a** Alfetta. Any one else see this race?

Just thought I'd share.

Happy Holidays!

Just surfed the web a bit and found some images of the car and driver.

Speed Channel (used to be Speed Vision) was the only reason I'm still hanging on my cable service...
there used to be a lot more SCCA racing and other road races... now most of the time they show stupid NASCAR going around in circles... or NASCAR going off courses since they don't know how to brake and turn in a "road" circuit...

Christmas Day was fun, it was all day SCCA runoffs...
too bad I missed the GT5 class... I only saw the GT3 (2?) with those Datsun 510s with ultra wide fenders...

I saw that race as well. It was a good one. I wish they would show more SCCA or similar events. I couldnt believe how fast those little Mini Coopers we're. Cars are so small that the one guy who won the race looked like he was sitting in the back seat!

Oh!! I remember that Mini Cooper! Are they in the same class as the Alfa??

The Legend of Motorsport (of Speed Channel) once showed a documentary on the Minis racing in the Monte Carlo Rally... I wouldn't believe my eyes... they're so fast...

I too saw the gt5 race and it was exciting..veen more to see two alfas... not only was there a red alfetta but there was also a beautiful blue gt jr 1300 which had an acicdent with one of the minis and i believe finished in the top 10.

I wish speed would show more of this....I am definatly tired of NASCAR!

Speedvision

I saw the GT5 race.I only signed up for "cable" (Dish
Network actually) to get the Speedvision and Dish had it without having to buy the top package. Just $50 more one time gets a unit that records 60 hrs of racing.
The blue GTV Jr was Jack Beck, who won the G Production Natl title twice I think in a pretty Alfa Spider.
Unfortunately Illohan was penilized ( anyone know why?) but he and Beck did well anyway.
