Qusetion re:TS RPM/Crank angle sensor

Hi guys,

Does anybody know what the blue wire in the Twin Spark RPM sensor connector is for?

Reason being, the RPM connector moulding in my 75 was cracked/deteriorated and the blue wire had been severed within the moulding. Black and yellow wires were still intact.

Car was still running OK at the time.

Craig's electrical diagrams shows this blue wire separating after leaving the RPM connector, then meeting up again prior to joining again at pin 23 of the ECU connector.
ECU has never returned any error codes.

Can anybody shed some light on this? Could this affect performance in any way?

The wiring diagram shows yellow, black and the braided shielding.

Yellow is the signal and goes to pin 25 of the ECU.

The black and the shielding both go to pin 23 of the ECU which is a signal ground.

The black is the signal ground between the CAS and the ECU.

The shielding is only there for noise suppression and really only needs to be connected to ground at one end and is probably not connected to anything inside the CAS anyway.

I hope this answers your question.

Bewdy, thanks Craig.

I stripped it back and soldered it up for good measure anyway. It will need a new sensor to be all nice and neat
