MC Rod Adjustment

I just had the ABS removed from my Verde and replaced with a new MC. The pedal feels low but doesn't pump up so I don't think there's air in the system. Its also very hard to lock up the brakes. Is there an adjustment on the rod between the pedal and the MC?

I'm going to give the shop that did the work a call but since this is the first time they have done this job (they may never do it again) it would help to get some wisdom from the board. There a Fiat shop but they work on Alfa's and Maseratii also.

I'm wrong, there is no rod to adjust between the MC and the pedal. I was thinking of the 69 and older cars that I've worked on, where the MC is under the floor. The mechanic thinks its just air and will rebleed the system. I truly hope that works.

They rebled the brakes and said everything is fine. I still think they're too low and too hard to lock. Is it just the difference between the 2 systems? I don't think so, I've driven a 69 Berlina without power assist and though they required a lot of pressure it wasn't that hard too lock them up. I replaced the pads last year any other ideas of what to look at?

Is there a different booster on a non-ABS car maybe?

Put in a used non-ABS booster and it gets vacuum from the plenum. The booster seems to work OK for light braking but full lock requires alot of pressure.

Mitch:
I think that a way to test the booster is to push down on the brake pedal then start the engine. The pedal should go down some more if the booster is OK.

My Milano Gold is like that. Its kinda disapointing for a car thats pretty nice otherwise to have brakes that feel worse than a hyundai or something. lol

Yep, it is disappointing. My 105's and Alfetta's always had great brakes. I can't help but think that there's something wrong. Maybe some new pads would help.

I am putting new pads, rotors and stainless lines on mine so i will see if that does anything. The only thing I can think of is that becasue of the brake system design it is nearly impossible to get the air out so once it is opened after leaving the factory you cant ever completly get the air out. I dont know though, thats just the best explanation i can come up with? I bought my car from the original owner and i was told that the brakes were good when new, but after the first time the system was worked on the pedal feel was never the same again.
